Just like LA . They need to butt out. Why are they not putting restrictions on Liquor? They talk about right but smokers don't have any right. What about smokers right? We are human to.

Are cigs still a legal product, I think so. What ever happened to the rights of property owners? I don't smoke, and if I want to go somewhere that doesn't allow smoking I will chose to do so. But I am not going to ask a property owner to make his/her business smoke free if they choose not to.If you want to put an end to smoking then make cigs. illegal and be done with it. Stop all the messing around, oops can anyone one say TAX MONEY!

When people get hung up on protecting and preserving the rights of smokers, they're ignoring the fact that smoke is pervasive, intrusive, and a harmful pollutant. It saturates not only one's lungs but one's clothing, hair, and skin. It's about time the Arlington City Council took care of the vast majority of its citizens who don't like walking through the smoking area of a restaurant to go to the restroom, or even to enter the establishment. I was appalled when I had to walk through a cloud of smoke to get to the valet parking service at Arlington Memorial Hospital, a requirement since the parking garage was under construction. As an elementary student, I learned that "my freedom goes to the end of your nose." That pretty much sums it up.

Smoking effects others around. I believe thhe Surgeon General released a statement last year stating that research has shown that just a few minutes inhaling someone else's smoke harms nonsmokers..... There are stict laws on drinking and driving because it effect others in a harmful way. If you want to kill yourself with your smoke go right ahead, but don't come to me wanting hand me out medications and breathing treatments, and don't blow your cancer/asthma/COPD causing toxic air in my face....

Im not a smoker but i really dont care if someone else does, we are going to die someday anyways and if they want to smoke let them do so. We are not parents of those people so dont try to act like it. Yea so make it no smoking in buildings but if you are in your car or in your home smoking so what. Whats next should we take chocolate away? It makes people gain weight and that bad for your health!! I dont think so.

Then if you're "human" you should have the good sense NOT to smoke. It's an addictive habit that not only harms the smoker but others as well, not to mention that it STINKS (as do smokers) and is overall disgusting.

That's ridiculous.
Yes, being overweight is unhealthy and can be costly to taxpayers due to health care for obesity-related issues, but if you eat a piece of chocolate, the person sitting next to you is not affected in any way.

If cigarettes are made illegal, then there would be a black market problem, which would create an entire spectrum of problematic issues.

Cigarettes are something that make you question "who ever thought of doing something so stupidly repulsive?"

This is one thing the council has done right!
Restaurants in Arlington were allowed to have a smoking section if they had a special ventilation system.
Those so-called "special ventilation systems" NEVER work, they never filter the air well enough so that non-smokers cannot smell the filthy smoke.

Whether to allow smoking in restaurants should not even be debated - if a person cannot refrain from smoking long enough to eat a meal, they should stay home.

It's truly ridiculous that anyone should whine about such no-smoking ordinances.

Yes it does affect the person next to you. Especially if your weak in the "will power" department, and your trying to lose weight.

What an utterly stupid thing to post.

Such remarks are made when one has no foundation for debate or argument.

Why don't you "freaking" learn how to spell properly before posting on this or any other board; as it is, you are viewed as nothing but an illiterate imbecile.

Daily Horoscope for February 13

Sagittarius

It's time to muster all your resources and energies and push through to the next level. The harmony between Mars and Saturn will support your efforts. If you need to dig deeper into shared resources or your credit facilities, now's the time to do so. With careful planning and perhaps family support, you can consolidate and somehow find greater security. This is a calculation not a risk though.
