Police link student's death to gang feud

“The gang unit comes out at different times and visits with our administrators and talks with them about different things that are happening in the city.”

ARLINGTON -- Last month's shooting death of a Sam Houston High School senior was part of an ongoing series of clashes between two rival street gangs, according to arrest warrant affidavits released Monday.

Police arrested four people over the weekend in connection with the Sept. 15 death of 18-year-old Quintarick Wilson. Police are looking for two more men on suspicion of engaging in organized crime-murder.

'Even though they didn't pull the trigger, Arlington detectives feel they will be held accountable,' said Lt. Blake Miller, a police spokesman. Read more

Typical stupid parents. I guess if you deny reality long enough, it seems real. But not near as real as putting your son in the ground.
Parents better wake up and KNOW what JR is really doing!!!!!

I am a parent who's children was at that party to have a good time not to cause trouble cause I have raised my children better than to go and look for trouble. See there was so children there celebrating homecoming and when the misguided youth who was out looking for trouble came to those people home looking for trouble and started shooting. When you go to other people home with trouble it will find you. When a childs life is taken and others have been shot and so many close call. These are not children when they commit crimes of this statue it is an act of being grown and some of those children parents have to wiork and make a living like everyone else. It is no fear anymore these children have to live with what they did. I pray that those who commited an out burst to call the parent unfit you need to look at yourself first then judge the parent on how they are raising their children. When you raise someone elses child the commit on the other persons parenting skills.

I feel badly for the loss of this young man. I feel bad for what he will never experience and what his family cannot look forward to. The incident really isn't about the school but about Gangs. We have ALL known Gang violence exists but this is a little close to home and it hurts, and hurts badly. Please notice the ages of most involved. These are no longer misguided youth but grown men responsible for their own actions. It is very unfortunate an 18 year old was lost and we will never know what he might have become, as well as those under suspicion whose lives will never be the same.Use good judgement young people, THIS IS Your life.

Arlington and Grand Prairie used to be decent places until they allowed the scum from Oak Cliff and South Ft Worth to invade. Now both places are infested with black and Mexico gangs.

Well jojo I sorry for you ignorance, because you have no clue about gangs and who are in these gangs. There are just as many whites as there are other races in them. Yes maybe in some areaa there are more blacks or mexicans, but in others there are whites that are in gangs as well. You can not look in from the outside and think you know what what your talking about, and who really gives a crap if they are white, black, or hispanic, they are all people. They all need help and better lives, regardless of race.

Really. I think you are in denial. Show me a news story, show me a police report, show me a white music group singing about "poppin a cap in his ass". Those "gangs" you speak of are probably the white kids on skateboards but I've never seen a skateboard used in a drive-by.

This posting is for all of the wonderful and loving, students who attend Sam Houston High School. We were devasted at the loss of one of our own. He was well thought of and well loved.
So many thought so well of him and his leadership abilities that hundreds gave their life to Christ at his memorial service. From the ashes...new life springs forward. I only hope that my own life could bear that much spiritual fruit. That hundreds would make a change and accept Jesus as their personal Savior. The campus was forever changed by the life of Quinn and we are better people for knowing him.
For those who want to access blame or anger. Please take a minute and recall what the Bible says about those who sit in judgment of others.... Judge and you will be judged.
Please use your words to uplift the Sam Houston community during their time of bereavement and loss. Pray that God will intervene and put a protective covering over the children who pray in the courtyard, the children who attend classes, the children that struggle with physical disabilities, the teachers who help with TAKS even though they are not getting paid extra duty pay to do so.
The administrators who lovingly care for students
and attend functions in place of parents who have to work 2-3 jobs to amply provide for them.
Maybe in Rowlett, the struggles of life don't reach beyond the superficial. But their are some who have to make life changing choices everyday.
Could you hold up under their pressure? If not, then join us by praying for the parents, students, and teachers at Sam.
God Bless all that read this posting.

I would never go attack a gang member. However I do go to the range every week and if I were confronted and "Feared for my or the life of my family" I would have no choice. I would shoot to kill. And I can tell you this,I am certain my aim is far better that the punk kids who think they are bad asses.
The Police have no way to protect us. We must do it ourselves......

The community as a whole must address the gang issues. These are young and old alike that have lost faith in themselves and their fellow man and have banded together in a family type environment. This is human nature but with gangs there is violence caused by the lack of moral and work ethics. Ethics are something taught when young and impressionable and here is where the problem starts. You don’t have to rich or poor to have good ethics, but somewhere along the way people in gangs create their own ethics based on violence, greed and lack of ethics.
The community must find within itself a working relation with the gangs. They must be willing to offer opportunities for the members for a way out without the treat of reprisal from the gang. The same is true for the gang. If they make efforts to work within the community there can be a common ground.
I know that some gang member will never change and here is where internally the gang must deal with these individuals.
There will always be criminal activity in most gangs but for all to survive we must all work together to keep the community safe for all.
No gang member wants to get whacked by a rival gang, but with community participation each gang could be afforded their own territory and a way to resolve issues without violence.
The other alternative is kill them all and let GOD sort them out!
