Employee is accused of theft of city money

City offficials turn their heads. Hispanic thieves are plentiful throughout the city. From pallets of inventory from private business to refunds from the IRS(and EVERYING INBETWEEN), Hispanics(illegal and legal)are ripping us off, laughing all the way to the bank. Tips coming from compadres(citizens) on the inside makes it all too easy. Acting as though they are asimulating, they are knowingly deceiving naive officials. Imagine being the only citizen in a 2nd grade classroom full of hate-taught, no-english speaking illegals. Thank God I,m a trust fund baby.

I'm a middle-aged caucasion who finds your comments extremely ignorant and hateful. I've met so many Hispanics who are hard-working, family-oriented, loving, caring people. If you could pull your head out of the trash can long enough, you might notice. Go back to school, dummy. 2nd grade might be a good place to start.

Just want to say that I hope justice will be served in this case and what goes around comes around. Jonathan Battles is a name that everyone on the internet should know to STAY AWAY FROM!!!! He is a CON MAN!!! I feel bad for this poor woman who is sitting in jail for this man. He is the one who should be sitting in jail right now!!

You ought to pay closer attention to the news which clearly shows that more and more common criminals are hispanic.

It's impossible to understand why any LEGAL citizen in America would support illegals coming into this country. Think about it: the word is "ILLEGAL" - they cross the border as lawbreakers - so even if they never do anything else in violation of the law, their mere existence here is against the law. And most illegals have absolutely no respect for this country or its legal citizens.

No, illegals are no good for this country and any legal citizen who supports them is either a money-grubbing capitalist or someone who doesn't have the courage to cross that precious politically correct line and stand up for what is right and lawful because they're too afraid of being thought of as a - SHRIEK!- racist.

Yes, I feel sorry for the woman who stole the money, you have no idea who or what this man is and how he is able to manipulate people to do what he wants. I know she did wrong in taking the checks, and there should be a punishment for that. What I am saying is that she isn't completely innocent, however I do feel she was manipulated and fooled into this criminal activity. If you look at the facts of the article, he used another convicted felon, Tamika Booker (go to www.bop.gov and enter Tamika Booker in the inmate locater search) to deposite the checks, keeping his hands clean. Jonathan Battles criminal history speaks loud and clear. Angelique Torres isn't the first name on Jonathan Battles list of people he has used for his own personal gain. The list is long. I hope Ms. Torres has a great counsel to produce such evidence, because I am confident there are people out there willing to help her make her case.

Battles may be friggin' Prince Charming, but Torres will hopefully be held accountable for stealing from the Arlington citizens. I don't feel sorry for her.

I think CO was agreeing with you about there needing to be punishment for the woman that stole the checks, but I do believe CO had additional information that might have caused this woman to make such a horrible choice. I agree we make our own choices in life, but this woman didn't have any criminal record. She was considered to be an upstanding employee of the city for many years. It make me believe that Battles master minded the whole thing to manipulate this woman and leave her holding the bag when trouble came knocking. With his background and criminal profile, I wonder if the justice system and all of it's support branches aren't too stressed with large numbers to have kept a closer eye on Jonathan Battles. If that is the case, I find that truly sad, because how many more victims does this monster get to leave behind to suffer while he waits out his time in an institution that will provide him with 3 hots and a cot and not a bit of guilt.

They are taken advantage of..... that is why some of them go back. I have been reading about the home mortgage mess and was shocked to find families from Mexico living in expensive houses they cannot afford. Mothers and their grown children
all working and paying a couple thousand dollars a month, then when the payment went up to FOUR thousand they lost their home. I think that was in another state, but I am sure there are many of them here in Texas paying hundreds of dollars per month, but when they lose a job, or their payments go up they have to leave. Many of them leave and go back to Mexico, or to another state to live with other relatives.
LEGAL citizens have contributed a LOT to all the whole mess of things causing our housing crisis and illegal immigration crisis.

what does being an illegal have to do with this story? Ms. Torres wasn't an Illegal she was American citizen. Maybe the illegals are here illegally but they do the work NO ONE else wants to do. Maybe if certain American would quit being lazy they would have the jobs the Illegals have.
This is about a woman who fell in love with a con man but no one seems to care about what kind of man prey's on a single mother's and convince them to give him money.... a SICK MAN that's who....
