The crime rate will be higher, more wanna-be gangsters, drugs, etc. I have to agree with JayTee and I'm black myself!

However, because I live pretty close to Cowboys Stadium, the police are quick to keep things under control. The police don't want to let anything happen that might run away the tourists from Six Flags, Hurricane Harbour, Ballpark in Arlington, etc. Things are pretty quiet up here.

mla wrote: Do not under any circumstances move your family to Arlington. It is a crime-riddled place that is totally outclassed by almost every other suburb in the D-FW area. I lived there for many years - went to school there from elementary school all the way through undergraduate school, and I watched the city steadily decline into the abyss. It has attractions to visit, such as an amusement park, the Texas Rangers, and soon the Dallas Couwboys, but my recommendation is to visit those things when you like, and leave. If you are considering moving to our area, you would be much better served to consider Allen, Frisco, and other suburbs to north of Dallas -- or areas in Northwest Tarrant County, northwest of Fort Worth. Those are the areas in which population growth has been centered recently, and where the better schools tend to be. Fort Worth is also a good city with some very good areas. But avoid Arlington.(And no, I am not a disgrunteld former city employee or anything -- and I still live in the area, as I have for my entire life -- but I do not, and would not, live in Alrington.) that is total bs. fort worth is MUCH more crime ridden than arlington texas.are you kidding me ? those dallas and fort worth schools have to have metal detectors arlington texas crime rate is far lower than most of dallas fort worth.maybe you are talking about north arlington,if you are, i kinda see what you are saying but there is a HUGE difference between north and south arlington.the only problem with arlington is some stupid teens claiming that they are "hood" and want to act tough.but honestly, south arlington (near mansfield texas) is a nice place over all.

I see a lot of comments, good and bad. We have lived in SW Arlington for 33+ yrs. Raised 4 kids and now some grandkids. The areas in the East side of town do have crime issues, but Southwest and West plus Mansfied (just South of Arlington) are fairly safe. You can have crime anywhere. Search - "Arlington TX crime stats" for info. Come on down it's a good place to live.

I live in north arlington( north of I 30) and it's not bad at all. Arlington is not a suburb, it is a city. If you want a majority white upper/middle class suburb than you are an idiot for even considering arlington since it isn't even a suburb anyway. Go to frisco, plano, grapevine, southlake or mansfield for your "safe" little to no minority populated suburb. Living in any of those places isn't reality anyway ( no I didn't say gang violence or severe crime is reality so don't be an ignorant moron and assume so). Arlington for the most part does suck but north of I 30 is a lot like the lake highlands area in north east dallas which has diversit[ and variety as well as decent and not so decent areas. If you are looking for a suburb arlington isn't it but if you want a nice quiet but still in the city environment I would first recommend northeast dallas\richardson , maybe even carrollton (technically a suburb. But not really) then north or south arlington.
