Don't listen to the people who stay Arlington is ghetto. I've lived in Arlington for 6 years now, originally from Phoenix,AZ. Arlington just like any other city has the rundown parts and their nice parts of town. I live in south Arlington...a block away from Mansfield. You will love Arlington. It's the only big town were it seems like a small world. Alot of people are friendly and you have alot of attractions including the new highlands shopping center. The good thing is you do have good police coverage in the area, it is bad however if you have a leadfoot :(

You cannot tell anyone else they will "love" a place. Everyone is different. Arlington is better than some places, worse than others, it's a poorly managed city, the city government is pathetic. If you live a block from Mansfield, then you're closer to Mansfield than the "real" Arlington. I don't know HOW you think Arlington feels like a small world - it's spread out all over the place and there is no sense of connection to good people - it's over-run with minorities and illegals.

And as far as the Highlands: It IS a new, more upscale shopping/dining area, but the stores are overpriced and although we haven't yet been to the Keg, none of the other restaurants are worth anything except for BJs.

If it were not for family ties, I would leave the metroplex as I don't like the traffic and congestion. But, there is no where to hide anymore. People have to find work, they go where the jobs are.

Only if you ignore the murder at the McDonalds on Matlock and I-20. Which was just up the street. A drug deal gone bad. They did catch the shooters though. So that is pretty good news.

Did I see somewhere that you are moving? Hope all is well.

Hi, i just wanted to put in my 2 cents.. I have enjoyed Arlington for 3 years, I go to UTA... there are some downsides to Arlington. that being the gunshots you hear every other night, the drunk drivers after midnight. I would say it's a very race affiliated area... and by that I mean there is a large amount of black people who don't like Hispanics or white people. But on a positive note, your in the center of DFW and have easy access to both I-30 and I-20 only 15 minute drive to either city.

DO NOT MOVE into that area! The area is riddled by crime since the blacks have overtaken the neighborhoods. Southwest and far south Arlington are the areas to move to. I have lived here for 40 years and have seen some very negative things occurring in this town.

Please, folks, use some common sense. It all depends on where you are located. For instance, I am located off N. Davis and Green Oaks, and I have absolutely no disturbances except the occasional fireworks from the Ballpark. Of course, there are dangerous areas to live in, just as there are in any city in the United States. Or, in the world, I daresay. We just have to do some background work and figure out where it is best for us to live.

Believe it or not, there are some bad areas in NE Tarrant County. Yes. Grapevine, Trophy Club, etc. A bad person can get anywhere. It is up to us to recognize that bad guy.

There is not a McDonalds at Matlock and I-20. Do you mean Matlock and Sublet? I never heard of any murders there and I live very close. What are the details about that murder?
