Three years and so far no tickets for me in Arlington yet. I even drive down Bowen daily. Maybe some day my luck will run out. If it does, it'll be my fault. Not because of some conspiracy.

Like this is a bad thing. I wish they would do MORE. Every morning when I go to work and afternoon when I get my kids from school my doors are blown off by jacka$$ crotch rocket drivers driving well in excess of 100MPH on I20, I30, Hwy360, Loop 820 etc.
I agree whole heartedly however they can not catch these guys as their patrol cars are too slow. I have witnessed, on more than one occassion, squad cars approaching a pack of motorcycles only to have them jet off into the distance, leaving the squad car practically standing still. The only car I have seen hang with them is the Dodge Charger Interceptors. Think about it, just how many times do you recollect seeing a cop with a crotch rocket pulled over? Few and far between I bet.

As far as others comments about don't speed, don't worry, blah..blah..blah... Take your arses down I-20 @ 5:00 in the evening on a Friday and try and do the speed limit. You will get completely ran over..

I am glad to see police stopping people for speeding. I have been calling, sending e-mails, letter to editor of the newspaper asking the DENTON police to start enforcing the speeding laws. Still, during rush hour on my way to and from work, I NEVER see DENTON police doing patrol. I can't remember the last time I saw a DENTON police with a car pulled over. Way to go Arlington, at least y'all have the balls to do your job.

Be thankful. I thought I was being a "law abiding citizen" but apparently there were some laws that changed and I was not aware. Had I known, I certainly would have complied.
And yes, I am one of those people that actually drives the speed limit and uses turn signals so that I don't have to worry about being ticketed. People that don't follow the law crack me up when they get upset because they were caught doing something they know was wrong. Laws are for everyone, not just the ones that think they won't get caught.

Arlington on I-20 is 60 mph- that is really slow for that kind of highway. They are cashing in on the deal. Oh well, the cop was not a prick - just doing his job. I was over due for a ticket anyway.

Boy isn't that the truth Just don't have an opening in front of you - they will nail you. So add tail gating to it and you will be safe.

I think it is a good idea to keep our officers on the roads to get people on the highway or in residential areas trapping them speeding. Slow Down and you wont have pay. They have Laws for a reason. TO KEEP YOU SAFE!
Speed laws are not for safety. If they were, then explain why people in Germany get on the Autobahn and drive as fast as humanly possible...legally. Or why Montana didn't *have* a speed limit until fairly recently. Or why a highway in Kansas has a speed limit of 80 mph but 635 has one of 60 mph?

How is 80 as safe as 60? How is 65 any safer than 75? It has nothing to do with safety. It's revenue generation, pure and simple.

As a matter of fact, when the huge gas prices were at their peaks, legislators were debating once again making a 'national speed limit' set back down to 55 to 'conserve gas.'

It's just another attempt at erosion of freedoms under the guise of protecting us.

Never take it to court yourself. Traffic court lawyers only charge $75 per violation. They can almost always either A) get your charge dismissed outright or B) get you deferred adjudication which still keeps the ticket off your license. You win either way. The last ticket on my record was in 2003 in another state. My most recent ticket(s) are figments of my driving record's imagination.

They need to focus less on those "generally speeding" and focus more on the jack@$$ drivers.

If everyone is driving 10 miles over the limit, leave 'em alone.

If everyone is driving 10 miles over the limit but one jack@$$ is weaving in and out of traffic, obviously doing 10-20 mph more than everyone else, they need to stop that guy.

Driving fast does not necessarily mean unsafe. I say focus on the ones who actually look like they're driving dangerously and ticket them. Leave the rest alone.

Exactly. It's almost always obvious who *needs* to be pulled over. I saw one just yesterday on the way to work. The rest of us were going about 70-75, and this one Mustang was darting in and out of traffic, in gaps that, from my point of view, didn't look like he'd make it.

The stupid thing, was all I did was increase my speed by about 5 miles per hour and I still managed to catch up to him because he got to an area where he couldn't get around the traffic. So all that lame darting around essentially got him nowhere.
