Yea we know there are gangs in Arlington, however homeowners like myself have taken steps to protect ourselves against these gang turd queers. One step is to obtain a concealed handgun liscense.
So go ahead and show your colors so we can tqake shots at you. legal shots that is. WE ARE NOT SCARED OF ANY OF YOU GANG TURD QUEERS.

I was planning to move to Arlington from Detroit, mi Due to crime rates I am a single mother of 2 and I would like to raise my children in a family oriented community does any have any suggestions..I need to move before summer.....
We moved to Arlington in the early 90's and it was great. Lots of things to do with the kids and right in between Dallas and Fort Worth but through the years it has turned into a place I would not want to visit....and certainly would not want to raise a family. We lived near the sublet and matlock intersection and when the section 8 housing went up the thugs moved into the area. Then Jerry world was built in a high crime area of arlington. These people were paid decent for their land and it was just enough to move into the nicer areas which brought the gang activity and drugs from their neighborhoods into ours. We moved a little over a year ago and can not tell you how happy we are with the move. Arlington schools are horrible and our kids have excelled in their new school. If you want to move into the DFW area I would steer clear if arlington and maybe find another area to move.
Good luck

I sold my house just in time. A year or so after I sold I saw that the value of my home dropped $24,000.00 and the houses around the neighborhood were selling for close to 30,000.00 less than our selling price. When we moved to Arlington it was decent but it was a steady decline over the past 10 years. I now live in the big state of Iowa. Summers are great and we are dealing with the winters. I have not locked my doors in over a year and the kids can play outside like most of us did when we were kids. I can not tell you how happy we are we made the move.

Good luck. I am happy for you, especially for your children.

I live in a neighborhood where our house value fell by $8,300.
However, all of Tarrant County's property values fell last year so this was normal. It will come back, whenever the economy comes back, whenever that happens. I live in the entertainment district so our property values will remain strong. People are trying to buy our homes as I speak for commercial developement.
We are not being eminent domained, however. They are going to have to pay me LOTS of money for me to move. I enjoy going to the Ranger, Cowboy games, as well as all of the concerts.

Hopefully the economy recovers soon and property values return soon. My mother was also planning on selling and moving back up to Iowa but the market fell from underneath her and even though she owes nothing on her house...she does not want to sell while real estate is selling so cheap. We loved going to the games as well and still plan on going....when we visit. People joke that there is nothing to do in Iowa but they could not have been more wrong. We have the Iowa Cubs, loads of concerts and even gambling at the horse track. If you want to take in a pro game you have to travel but you can go see Chicago, Indy, Kansas City and Green Bay games if you don,t mind a trip normally not much longer than a trip to Odessa. Summers are not so hot that you can not stand to spent more than an hour outside and while it is cold in the winter....ice fishing is a blast. And don't get me started on my man-cave. I am glad you still enjoy it there but we are glad to be out.

Sorry, but I couldn't take the cold. The summers are hot and hard but as long as my a/c works, I am ok. I am a retired high school football coach so living 839 steps away from rangers ballpark and 954 steps away from jerryworld suits me just fine. I really like living in Arlington and even if I sell my house in the entertainment district, I will buy a home in north Arlington. Sorry you had bad experiences in Arlington, so far, I haven't incurred any.

Sam Houston High School and Hutcheson Junior High are full of little baby gangsters. These children have zero respect of elders. Substitute teachers and regular teachers are routinly insulted and threatened. I feel sorry for permenant teachers of these children with anti-social personality disorder. If you are coming to Arlington and are in either of these school boundries and care about your children pay the extra money to send them to a school in a better area. As for the students in the boundry, I would not be suprised at the number of these little creeps that end up in prison. Why do we even try to educate such scum. IT IS AN EXERCISE IN FUTILITY.
