At a recent townhall meeting, the Arlington assistant chief of police advised me that we "do not have an illegal immigration problem in Arlington" and he was not aware of the following ICE arrests:
http://www.ice.gov/pi/investigations/comshiel... July 22, 2007 ( Arlington , Dallas , Farmers Branch, Fort Worth , Irving and Wichita Falls , Texas ): 121 violent street gang members were arrested during a seven-day enforcement action. Included were members of 27 local street gangs: 18th St., 28th St., Asian Boyz, Brown Pride, Diamond Hill, Eastside Homeboys, Eastside Locos, FTH, Fort Worth 28 Pride, How High Crew, Junior Homeboyz, Latin Kings, Love Field Players, Mexican Klan Locos, Mexican Mafia, MS-13, Neighborhood Crips, Northside Friends, Northside Locos, Puro Loco Mexicanos, Puro Tango Blast, Riverside 13, Sureno 13, True Bud Smokers, Valgos 18, Varrio Northside and Westside 12. Some of the crimes associated with the gang members arrested include; murder, sexually assaulting a child, robbery, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated robbery, possessing a controlled substance, manufacturing a controlled substance, unlawfully carrying a weapon, engaging in organized criminal activity, burglary of a building, evading arrest, and resisting arrest. .... I feel assured that the City of Arlington is right on top of things .... |

Is there a gang problem in Arlington Texas? If so, what is the community doing about this

puro northside locos. haha. jk.
well, they aren't going to do anything about it. They never do, so like jojowood said, I hope they get gangbanged. It's their fault for being so stupid and putting the cowboys in that hood. Duh!?!! |

All Arlington officials seem to focus on is $$$ and Jerry Jones.....we are awed in his presence and what he can do for Arlington...
Meanwhile, the crime rate soars while the city council only worries about luxury skyboxes and what kind of parking and streets we need around this new stadium.... There rest of the city can crumble...as long as we can attract fans and theme parks attendees. Sounds like a better place to visit..than to live in. Thanks Cluck |

Arlington wants to keep gangs away from Cowboys??
F that....KEEP THEM AWAY FROM THE CITIZENS! WTH! |

I just read this story ... this really should be insulting to Arlington citizens.
So they're concerned about how gang-related crime will impact the precious Cowboys stadium and related tourist presence ... Unbelievable. A "tourism security consultant"? Are they KIDDING with this??!! How about working with a "CITIZEN SECURITY consultant"?? I would assume this guy is being paid, so who is paying his salary? Perhaps all Arlington taxpayers should contact the city manager's office and find out just how this little project is being funded ... and if it's at the expense of hard-working, tax-paying citizens, then they should exercise their right to civil dissent and PROTEST and demand that the city do something about ALL gang-related and other crimes throughout the entire city. And they should demand that the city government/police properly address the REAL and serious issue of illegals in the city and how that affects the safety of all LEGAL citizens. And here's another unbelievable line from the story: " ... unchecked crime can have devastating effects on tourism." Oh yeah? Well, unchecked crime can potentially have devastating effects on ALL citizens and the overall environment and reputation of a city! Unfreakingbelievable ... the damned local government and law enforcement cares more about the monies that will be generated from Jerry Jones' precious super-ego project than the honest, hard-working citizens who pay the salaries of the mayor and the whole worthless lot that comprises the "City of Arlington". |

I second that. Shouldn't there be some repercussions for the parents of these hooligans? I'd love nothing more than to beat the shit out of some of these parents. Give them a dose of what their little scumbags are giving our children. ARG! If jesus ever existed--he'd be ashamed of them. |

Stay on the core of the topic folks - it's about how the city is addressing the crime problem strictly to protect tourism.

NewsFlash - When the citizens of Arlington voted down funding additional police awhile back - they all but said "Gangs? we love'em..bring'em on!"
All we can do is: Raise hell with our city leaders - be vigilant in our surroundings and report all gang related activity , everytime it happens, arm ourselves as the Texas law provides and do not back down, do not allow the 10% of the dregs of our society to run the other 90% of us. Take the time to take control and do not accept this. In regards to the comments on how ridiculous it is that the only reason the city officals want to control the gangs is so protect the stadium..etc. This angers me too; however, it could be that that is the only tact the officals have left to gain funing. Its always about the money - always has been; always will be. We are on the verge of losing Arlington as a decent place to live.It is in our hands to accept this fate. Good Luck. |

The government and media focus too much on the "amusement park and sports complex" aspect of Arlington -- the result is that nothing and no one else is considered a priority.

screw all u fake northside wanna be gangstas.
Arlington ain't da "hood". Go somewhere like da Cliff or Pleasant Grove and you really know what gangstas is about |

NewsFlash - The citizens of Arlington voted down funding for "additional police", which was mostly funding for libraries and summer camps because the city is not allocating current funding appropriately. Instead of utilizing current resources for crime prevention, they wanted the citizens to foot that bill ... while the city continues to utilize current abundant resources on flash for Jerry Jones.
