Two years after the fact the cop cries on the stand while she's testifying about swerving up to the curb to avoid the UHaul truck coming at her. I don't believe it - if by some chance she's still scared from 2 years ago then they better get her off the force - she's useless.

She was scared of what almost happened. She was upset by the result of the teen's actions.

cops are still human, no one ever forgets about taking a life or seeing one taken regardless of the position, not everyone can be cold hearted and have the compassion of a rock, if we did no one would ever save a choking man or pull a child out of a wrecked car or run into a burning building to save an old woman. no matter how tough you THINK you are every action every situation leave a scar on the human psyche how you deal with it and how long it takes you doesnt make you a lesser man, or woman

You're typical of the citizen that hates cops until you dial 911 because you need one..LOL

Mr. Citizen, Sir, I'm the lousy cop you've been talking about.

Mr. Citizen, Sir, your courts let felons go free and you blame me! And then you buy books by the pampered predators and their sleazy lawyers - whose side are you on , Sir?

You accuse me of coddling criminals, until it's your kid I catch.

You raise Hell with the guy who cuts you off in traffic, but let me catch you doing the same thing and you threaten to sue!

Whose side are you on, Sir?

When some career crook, twice my size, curses me, spits on me, dares me to stop him, you say, that's part of my job. If I do what I have to to arrest him, you call it brutality!

Oh! It's OK with you if I fix a flat tire for your wife or give her enough gas to get home on a dark night or deliver your baby in the backseat of my cruiser or work hours overtime looking for your runaway daughter.

But, if I stop for a cup of coffee, I'm a goof-off at taxpayer expense.

"Do something about crime you demand!" And yet if a rapist runs, you tell me, "don't shoot - he's too young!" And if I shoot anyway, I'm suspended without pay pending a probe that may cost me my badge, pension, home and maybe, you'll demand that I be jailed. Sir, whose side are you on?

It's the wife who phones in the family fight and yet, when I get in the middle, she's on his side. I'm expected with my academy education to make life and death decisions IN SECONDS that courts take weeks to decide. If I'm right, I'm lucky; if I'm wrong, I'm dead.

I spend sleepless nights on a dry run stakeout, wasted days on redundant paperwork, tedious hours tracing long shot leads to a dead end, and yet, the only time you see me is when you're driving too fast. And then, if I smile, I'm a flirt, and if I don't, I'm a pig. In a chase, my tired Ford is outrun by some crummy junkie's suped-up Mercedes. In the alley I'm outgunned; in the revolving door court room my hand out lawyers are no match for the ones felons can afford. Any one cop on the take splatters his guilt all over the rest of us because, apparently, you want to believe the worst of us.

Mr. Citizen, Sir, do you want to trade jobs?

Well Mr. Citizen, I guess you have figured me out. I seem to fit neatly into the category you place me in. I'm stereotyped, characterized, standardized, classified, grouped, and always typical. I'm the "lousy" cop.

Unfortunately, the reverse isn't true. I can never figure you out.

From birth you teach your children that I am a person to be wary of...and then you're shocked when they identify me with my traditional enemy, the criminal.

You accuse me of coddling juvenile criminals, until I catch your kid doing something.

You may take an hour for lunch and several coffee breaks each day, but point me out as a loafer if you see me having just one cup.

You pride yourself on your polished manners, but think nothing of interrupting my meals with your troubles.

You raise hell about the guy who cuts you off in traffic, but let me catch you doing the same thing and I'm picking on you.

You know all the traffic laws, but never got one ticket you deserved.

You shout "Foul!" if you observe me driving fast enroute to an emergency call, but literally raise hell if I take more than ten seconds responding to your call.

You call it "part of my job" if someone strikes me. But its "police brutality" if I strike back.

You wouldn't think of telling your dentist how to pull a badly decayed tooth, or your doctor how to take out your appendix, but you are always willing to give me pointers on law enforcement.

You talk to me in a manner and use language that would assure a bloody nose from anyone else, but you expect me to stand there and take it without batting an eye.

You cry, "Something has to be done about all the crime!" but you can't be bothered with getting involved.

You've got no use for me at all, but, of course, it's OK if I change a tire for your wife, deliver your baby in the back seat of my patrol car on the way to the hospital, save your son's life with mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, or work many hours overtime to find your lost daughter.

So, Dear Citizen, you stand there on your soapbox and rant and rave about the way I do my job, calling me every name in the book, but never stop a minute to think that your property, your family, or maybe your life might depend on one thing - me, or one of my buddies.

Yes, me, the lousy cop.
Are you kidding me

This newspaper is a joke. They open up comments on this story so people can hate on the police. When thugs shoot and kill each other such as the Austin area story, they make it a F*****G love story and disable the comment section. Its obvious that gangs/thugs have infiltrated the newspaper to hate on police. I mean C'Mon Hubbard/Lavergne/Lamon is one of the most popular drug spots in that area.

The idiot must be you. If she can't handle the heat she should not be in the kitchen. I've had three potentially life-threatening incidents almost happen in my lfe that left me shaken - I didn't cry at the time and certainly not two years later. I was thankful I survived and calmed down within a reasonably short time. Perhaps I'm stronger than this female cop.

My point is this - If nobody was harmed in this near miss (an nobody was) it should only leave you shaken after being frightened - if you cry about a near miss 2 years later do you really belong on a police force which is supposed to protect the public? I think she'd run before protecting/rescuing someone in danger.

Nope, the idiot is you. A person did die, a person was severely injured. Once again, it wasn't the near miss she was upset by, it was the death that followed.
