Am I the only one who thinks this is REDICULOUS? I mean, come on, 7 year olds? I know a lot of grade school kids, and most of them still run out into the street without looking---unable to predict the consequences of thier actions. This makes me sick. Kids threaten each other all the time. In my opinion, this should have been handled my the school district, or even by (BIG gasp!) the parents---imagine that? Getting the police involved is WAY overboard. Give me a break--does Margaretville Police not have enough to do? Idiots.

If all the details were released you may think different. Lets call it what it was a MURDER PLOT, I dont care that they were only 7. What are they going to be like at 17.

You don't know if that is what it was. Neither do I. These are little kids---babies in my opinion. How old is too young to be arrested? 2? 3? 4?. There is a reason that children are not able to do certain things. Drive. Get a job. Sign a contract. It is because they are unable to predict the outcome of thier actions. They don't understand that if they drive and get into an accident that they could hurt/kill someone. But we expect them to understand WHY they were arrested? Understand that they could go to jail (or the juvenile equilvalent)? These kids probably have not scratched the surface of what they have done in thier minds. What these authorities have done is STUPID in my opinion, and have most likely scarred these kids for many years to come. I am NOT justifing however, the actions of these little boys. What they did was wrong!!! No question about it. But it should have been handled in both the school and at home with the parents. I have 3 little kids myself and this terrifies me, that this could happen to my children.

Thank goodness the girl (yes the intended victim was a 7 year old girl) told her mother and the mother notified the school administration. I'm glad the police were called. My child attended MCS and RCS and both schools are horrible. The administration probably couldn't handle the situation. Lord knows the past MCS administrations have ignored teachers sleeping with their students and bringing drugs onto school grounds to share with their students. I grew and lived in this area most of my life. There is so much ignoring of daily dangers and patronizing done at MCS that it is a wonder anyone gets an education...or lives through 12th grade.

Well little Jakey. I was born in Margaretville and lived in the area most of my life. I graduated from Roxbury Central and let me tell you the quality of education at MCS and RCS has gone down hill. The administrations may change but the same patronizing and selective ignoring still goes on. You were probably one of those shitty little kids that went to MCS. I like how the way all of you people can make comments about something you read in the paper. For all of you people out there that think these kids are criminals, you need to know the facts. Some of the kids had no knowledge of this. They were just sitting at the table where is all took place and got dragged into it. And for the record these kids did not get arrested. And Zara you don't have your story straight either. It wasn't the intended victims mother that went to the school!

School acted appropriately by calling the police.
Letters were sent to all families at the school as soon as this was reported. History all over the country shows that parents may not take any action because they won't believe it or they can't be bothered to get involved. This may be a small community, but the kids want to be more like "the outside world". We live in a "sue hungry" country, acting the way they did they avoided a big lawsuit had anything, God forbid, happened. Kids need to learn from someone that this kind of behavior is not acceptable and will not be tolerated. Crime in margaretville is growing quickly and quick action is needed to let others know that there will be repercussions to their actions and/or thoughts of this caliber.

Tanya, how would you respond if the target was your child? A group of kids waiting together to beat up your kid.

My bad, it wasn't the victims mother it was the mother of a little girl who is a foster child that went to the school to notify the administration after she was told the previous night what was going to happen to the victim.

I am from the area and spend alot of time here---though, seriously, not by choice but because of family. The female parent's initials are K.P.....She is the one who told me.

It is very interesting to me to read this string. I just bought a home in Margaretville and will be moving there soon, from the sunny state of California. I am also an eductor with over thirty years of experience in elementary education, as a teacher and later as an administrator. I worked in a very tough district and I can guarantee you that second graders can threaten others in a most terrifying way. The point is that it must be dealt with immediately and with complete honesty for the parents and the community. In today's climate you can no longer say, "It's just kid stuff."

Though, I must admit, I am a little surprised at the administrations apparent lack of candor. I don't know all the details and most of what has been written may just be gossip.

I hope my husband and I didn't make a mistake making Margaretville our new home. And, I had hoped to substitute at MCS.

Are you insane!! What if this was your child!! Would you be so dismissive???!!! I'm positive that if it wasn't for one child telling about this, this poor child would be dead right now, and you say that this is not a matter for the state police!!! What about all the teenagers who had plans to shoot up children and teachers in school, and DID AND PEOPLE ARE DEAD!! These children are only a few years younger. Who knows what goes through their minds. If children are left to themselves, and have TV shows and violent video games as their roles models, who's to say they are not capable of murder, or maybe they have been abused themselves. You never know. Without the proper guidance they can be capable of anything. Did you even read the article?? This poor child has been abused all year by certain children, I mean 15-20 times!!, and when the parent's reported it to the school, nothing was done. Would you have faith that they coundn't follow through with this. COME ON!! They had an actual plan drawn out as best they can (being 2nd graders) of stick figures to hit her with a brick, if that didn't work, take her in a building and stab her, and if that didn't work drown her on a field trip. Get real!!! I cannot believe your ignorance. You kind of people infuriate me!! Whose the idiot!! Uggghhh!!!

My heart goes out to her and the child that leaked the information is her angel...God Bless both of them and keep their angels watching over them:)

Daily Horoscope for December 22

Aries

Financial muddles are more than likely today so be careful if you're going shopping. You might be accidentally short-changed or there could be a misunderstanding about how much something costs. This isn't a good day to lend friends anything valuable in case they don't return it or they damage it in some way. Better safe than sorry.
