Construction had to stop in the middle of a Minnesota summer because some bones over 50 + were found. How stupid! I could understand it if the bones were from someone' who recently died. Now construction has to wait until it is 20 below?

QUICK! Give the land to the closest indians. Obviously it is their land. They can build a casino!

Yes, it's called dignity and respect for the dead.

The site may be a burial ground and should be investigated as such. If it's found to be a burial ground the bones may need to excavated and respectfully reinterred in a different location.

sigrid - if this is the site of an american indian burial ground, I totally understand the work stopage. The bones will need to be identified, and if more are found they can be relocated to allow contruction to continue. Get over yourself.

incredible - just because these bones were found does not automatically mean that the land is going to be given to native americans for development. You too need to get over yourself.

I agree. Further, archeologists uncover artifacts every single day...but for some reason they don't make the paper. Is there other significance to this article?

Ger over YOURSELF! The bones are already identified as American Indian. Do you think they are going to find out his name?

If the land and bones are so sacred, why didn't anyone know there were there? Obviously the dead's ancestors don't care where the bones are, why should everyone else have to stop for a month or three while a formal dig is conducted?

Sigrid, it doesn't matter what ethnicity the person was, protection of all human remains are the same. If the bones belonged to a European they would stop construction, identify and try and put an estimate on how long the bones were in the ground. This is not just a Native American issue, it is a human remains issue that we should all be more sensitive to. The reson for identification of remains is to respect the culture this person belonged to. Europeans get a prayer and are put in cemetaries, Natives have there own traditions. We all die and everything buried eventually is dug up, that is why all grave sites are protected in the US.

Let's go dig up used graveplots and sell them again. There are only bones in there. Who cares?
