i dont know that i would go so far to say that, but the city has lost a fair amount of big factory businesses over the years. i would hope it doesnt become a city of just restaurants and small shops. those are of course important to a community. its just... its like a shopping mall with a big vacant store. sure it still works but there is that obvious impression something successful decided to leave for a good reason.

I just work in this town. I wouldn't never live here. I drive 100 miles a dat to avoid any of the crap that comes from it. To much violence.

Can someone tell me please where is all this crime? Are they hiding it from the papers? I came from Florida and the town we lived in (centrally located)was not even the size of this town and they dealt with armed robberies (banks, gas stations, even people kicking down your front door and beating everyone up inside)to perverts in front of Walmart. I couldn't wait to get out of there. I just don't see or hear of all this crime that is being talked about. Also, I think this is a nice town. We just moved here. The downtown has some great points and there are wonderful parks here.

if you go to a real estate website, look for the cheap homes, $5000 to $15,000 mortgages, those are generally in the crime areas of the city. there's a reason 1500+ sq ft homes sell for so little money.

any city could be considered nice if a person held the right job skills. there are larger more successful cities nearby that provide equal to slightly better employment opportunities. there have been several large employer losses in the past twenty years partly responsible for the population drop from 100,000 to 80,000. |

As opposed to why does this town suck so good?
Or properly, why does this town suck so well? Don't blame the town, this country has spent the last thirty years following a Reaganesque economic policy of supply side deregulated economics and a trickle down monetary policy. Real wages have dropped and the wealth of the nation has been concentrated with the already wealthy. Greater areas of the nation "suck so bad" as the majority of the citizens slip into poverty. This is the result of deliberate government policy and will take deliberate government policy to change. See the Huffington Post, particularly the post of Les Leapold. |

if you were a younger person i would have suggested maybe you are just developing to a point where the same old same old is no longer of interest. we enter life being led constantly and have to make that transition of leading ourselves without entertainment being provided for us. |

Possibly because it's full of "suckers" like you? Shape up and take advantage of the wonderful things this community offers. Museums, art galleries, history, geneology, young professionals groups, wine tasting, community wellfare drives, good hospitals, many outstanding doctors (some not so outstanding) neighborhood societies, preservation of wonderful old homes, outstanding colleges, ice skating rinks in winter, beautiful lake for summer activities. You should be so lucky!! |
