Humboldt county needs Methadone Clinic

Does Humboldt county need a Methadone clinic.Yes!

My Nother stays very sick from chemotherapy. She has cronic pain along with methadone dependence which doctors used her as an iatrogentic person and now she is dithering in pain. She not only needs the methadone, but marijuana also. She was on the "Compassionate Marijuana Act" plan for many years and now that she is really getting sick she needs help from the state of California where she was born. If there isn't a methadone clinic in Humboldt county are there any doctors who might medicate her to make her life worthwhile?

I am planning to move up to Mendo or Arcata but I'm on methadone for pain from an accident and I wanted to come up for a show and I acny fin a clinic that will give me my mediaction in another town. It's called. Courtesy dose. If not do u know of a doctor that wld gie me enough for the 2 days I'll be there. Thank u.And out of curiosity why arwntthwre any methadone clings up there. Not everyone on it is a drug addict and even if they were it's a legal alternative that is much better than people living there hving to buy Blake market heroin which will bring more drugs into the community. As a longtime methadone patient who wants to move to NCa, I am thinking that my only option is Subutex. I am sure that there are a few or more than a few docs with the requisite license to prescribe it. It is an analgesic to a degree--methadone is surely better for pain relief. If used in substitution therapy, though, it is as effective as Methadone in preventing withdrawal symptoms...and is available at the pharmacy. It is expensive, about $300 per 30 days, but in my state this is much cheaper than methadone which goes for $75/wk. My clinic will do Subutex (Suboxone, Bupenorphine) for $125/mo plus the script--what with no insurance is almost as much as Methadone. Still, its easier to get off, if that is your goal.

I'm currently transitioning from methadone to Suboxone due to an upcoming move to Humboldt Cty. I'm giving this absolutely crazy substance 1 week, if there's no improvement in how I feel I'll commute to the nearest mdone clinic by Greyhound once/wk. The pre-induction w/drawal savagely stomped me and, when I experimented w/using another opiate while on this supposed "blocker", I spent hours in awesome bliss more intense than the pleasure of my first use.
Everybody badmouths methadone, however, it permits many addicts to either transition to sobriety (this process can take many years) or fill their opiate receptors while working, studying, and caring for their families. Methadone suppresses craving, dramatically dampens the effect of additional opiates, and allows users to feel peaceful and alert (normal?). During my time on mdone, I worked full time, repaired my relationship w/my family, rec'd a significant promotion, and got married.
Eureka has a number of obvious dope neighborhoods; a local methadone clinic will allow many people to repair their lives -- which will help repair Eureka.

I liked your post and have a very simular story myself. I have been told by friends that live here in Humboldt county as do I, that Humboldt has the highest percapita of herouin use in the U.S. If not for methadone I most certianly would not be around/living right now. Ofcoarse the story doesnt always end happily ever after, but in my case i was able to get off herouin after 10 years of daily use. And have been sober for 7 years now. This would have never happened if not for methadone programs. I tried many times cold turkey and 30 day detox programs ect. There should absolutley be methadone clinics and programs in Humboldt county where there is clearly a huge opiate/herouin problem.

Regarding Methadone,

As a previous Methadone user for chronic pain after a disabling car crash some years ago, I was prescribed Methadone for many years.

There came a point in my life when I wanted to get off of it. You talk about pain? GETTING OFF METHADONE WAS THE MOST HORRIFIC AND PAINFUL EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE.

Even when I was on it, if I couldn't get to the doctor and was out for a few days I would become INCREDIBLY sick.

I have recently been in ANOTHER car crash (both of which were the other person running red lights lucky me). I am seeking Suboxone AKA Bupropherene as I have tried it and it works as well for pain as Methadone, is far more stabilizing and if you ever choose to quit due to less pain and recovery, using a wein down period, it is FAR less difficult than Methadone. I was merely tired and lethargic and a bit achey.

I am trying to find a new Suboxone doctor for at least an itermim support as I am in horrible pain from a massive head injury and lower back disc issues from the crash a few months ago.

If anyone knows of any Suboxone providers in Humboldt taking new patients NOW PLEASE let me know.

Hi there I am in the same boat. I have fybro and lupus and use methadone for pain. I was bed ridden for four years and it saved my life. The winters in Chicago are brutal and I can live in Humbolt for the winter with a friend. Is there doctors or clinics and can you write me M_M Patient
