Hello, I am new to Topix. Not sure how this will work..but I saw Gibsland La Fourm and wanted to take a chance and see if I could find anyone interested in helping me.
I lost my dad on April 7, 2007 and I miss him more than anyone can imagine. I think each day that goes by...makes loosing them a little easier but my heart is still sad.
I am hopeing to find someone from Gibs that knew my dad or even my grandpa and family, the Hines's. My dad went to school and graduated a Gibsland High School. And after college he came back and was the principle at Gibsland High School until it closed. Then he moved to Bienville Parish School until he retired. His name was Chuck Hines or some of his friends called him Nubbin.
My grandpa and grandpa Hines did live in Gibsland when my dad and his sister were young. I guess they moved to Winnifield La after there.
At one time when I was small I lived there too with my mom and dad, at the old home place. I am looking for any old photos of them or the old house place. Or if anyone has any good stories they wouldnt mind sharing, I would deeply appreciate it very much. I have been lucky to here one story a person told me about my dad's old fishing hole sense his passing. I treasure it so much. That is why I thought I would give this a try to see if I can find out any others that might share their stories with me. Or how he may have taught the young kids there at the school.
My dad and my grandparents are all gone now and I miss them so very much. I dont have but a few photos of my dad when he was young nor my grandparents. If anyone knows of any old newspaper clipings or any memoriblia, please let me know.
I would like to know it anyone has done any Hines geneology that is connected to our family? Or if they have any info about my ancestory, family names or where we came from? I will give them my contact email address if I could be of any help.
Thanks
