I am really disappointed the Sun took so long to make this public. Thanks for looking out for us...

God forbid you try to walk a few blocks home from the bar on a nice night without any trouble. I wish i could help but was closer to Fort Ave. that evening. Speedy recovery to those injured.

I guess the only way to solve anything is through violence. RIGHT? Sad that our society has no sense of love and respect for anybody anymore. Somebody says something to you. YOu reaction is to go beat them up and stab them..?

A sad everyday occurrence in Charm City. Men's Health listed Baltimore as the most armed and dangerous city in the US in it's June issue. .

I feel for this group of victims, but please everyone, if you see a car fleeing from an accident, take down their license plate. DON'T yell into their car, you're only going to make things worse.

Just another sad moment in the continuing downward spiral of Baltimore!

Yesterday it was Fells Point, today it's Federal Hill. When are the idiots who patrol the hallways of City Hall in this dump of a city going to wake up and realize they need to increase foot patrols in the city's more affluent neighborhoods? Property taxes collected from these areas make up the most consistent stream of revenue for the City, yet the majority of the residents use relatively no public resources. Hey Sheila, how about you stop worrying about handouts to your cronies and put the money to use for the citizens of the City. What a disgrace...

What was the description of the people in the car that tried to flee?
Why does the Sun always leave out that part of the story?
For leaving that part of story out the Sun once again enables the criminals. For that the Sun deserves to have its editors knifed, beaten, and violated as the victims were.
C'mon Sun...what are you covering up again? Out with the truth before you close the doors and rid us of your racist, enabling rag.

Seriously, you can barely tell what happened from this story. Who and how many in the car? If they had the time to stab 3 people on light st they were seen by the victims or somebody.

The City That Bleeds
|
Situations like this are far too common...consistently, Baltimore's most undesirable 'residents' are terrorizing it's normal, law-abiding citizens.
There is a blatantly obvious misallocation of resources, within the state government and law-enforcement (or lack thereof) ranks, when 'animals' such as these are allowed to roam the streets and inflict an utterly terrifying blend of unbridled angst and violent recklessness upon innocent bystanders.

Leaving Fed Hill
|
My husband and I are two of the innocent taxpayers who live in Federal Hill. We've had a car broken into, beer bottles thrown at our house, endure tons of drunken noise and loud street brawls most weekend nights and middle schoolers smoking in all the alleys. Our property taxes are over $8K per year. For WHAT? Recycling and trash pickup. We've given living here a shot for three years and nothing has gotten any better. That's long enough for me. We're moving out of 'Charm City' as soon as we can. No way would I try to raise a family here.
Cya, Bmore.

Semper Vigilante wrote: What was the description of the people in the car that tried to flee? I don't believe they are leaving anything out. The e-mail that has been passed around the Fed Hill community from one of the victims, has the same story. I think they are pleaing for anyone with info, descriptions, eye witness, etc to come forward.

I completely agree but these "animals" are a product of the Baltimore society. Sad...but living off of the system is encouraged in this city.

Per the 10 o'clock news on Fox 45, the operator and passenger of the vehicle were both reported as female.
Kwayne, Your point is spot on. The magnitude of handouts availble to the poor in this city has created a disincentive to work. We have labor intensive businesses on the Eastern Shore in danger of closing up shop, as they are unable to secure migrant workers, while thousands of perfectly able residents of Baltimore City live off of the government. In my mind, the problem stems from the lifestyle that is encouraged by City Hall.

The Email from the woman

My family and I were brutally attacked at approximately 1:30 am Sunday morning, May 18th 2008 in Federal Hill. The police have asked that we reach out to anyone and everyone we know to see if anyone saw or heard anything so that we can try to catch these people. Please pass along my story to all you know that might have been in the area.
My brother, cousin and I were walking south on Light street. A dark colored sedan struck a city bus at the intersection of West and Light. Everyone on the street at the time was yelling at the driver to stop because she was attempting to flee the accident. We crossed the street and headed toward the intersection of William and West to Owen's girlfriend Kelly's house in the 100 block of East West Street. We saw that there was an unrelated fight occurring at the intersection of William and West so we were discussing that perhaps we should just go to my house instead of Kelly's house so that we didn't get in the middle of it. By the time we got to Kelly's house, the driver who had struck the bus had turned down West Street and was attempting to get away. Because there was a fight blocking the street, she could not so she reversed toward Light Street.
At that time John yelled at her to stop since she has struck the bus. A female passenger got out of the dark sedan and rushed at us. We were banging on Kelly's door to try and get someone to let us in, but before we could get in, the girl grabbed me by the pony tail and threw me to the ground. At that time others joined in and all were kicking, punching and stomping on me. Owen and John were frantically trying to get the girl and others who had joined in to stop, but the girl still had me by the hair and was smashing my face into the sidewalk and kicking me even more. I fortunately had my purse in between the sidewalk and my face, or I would have lost all my teeth/probably bashed my face in.
In the mean time, Kelly's roommates/friends came out of the house to try to help and several of them were also thrown to the ground and injured. Once everything cleared, we stumbled into the house to discover John, Owen, and an innocent bystander (who had been sleeping and came out to see what was going on) had all been stabbed. Owen's was just a superficial wound, but they got John in between 2 ribs in the liver. He is set to be released from the hospital today. The other boy who came out to help has a collapsed lung from being stabbed and was also stabbed in the head. He is going to be at Shock Trauma for at least 4 more days. I have a bloody ear, elbows, knees and multiple bruises through out my body. I had actual foot prints on my back from where they were kicking me. Everything hurts, a lot.
I have considered myself a proud homeowner in Federal Hill for over three years. I can't imagine a happier way to have spent my 20's. I refuse to let these needless acts of violence scare me out of my home, or the neighborhood I have come to love so much. This was not an attempted robbery, but instead a blatant act of unprovoked brutal violence.
