I met Ben Jealous when he served with the National Newspaper Publishers Association, an organization of 200 black-owned community newspapers. He came to Atlanta to visit the Atlanta Daily World. What a professional! Congratulations to him.

<quoted text>You better quickly differentiate between Illegals and Mexican Americans such as myself. We too have contributed to this great nation not just Blacks and Whites. Who do you think is guarding our borders? Most of them are Mexican American Border Patrol Agents. Some have even gone to prison for doing their job. Remember Agent Compean? I can't remember the other agents name but he too is Mexican American. I come from a military family and my son is currently in the Corps defending this great nation and so are thousands of other Mexican Americans and other Latinos. So please I respectfully ask you to please do that for me. Peace and God bless.
The other Border Patrol agent sent to jail for protecting our U.S. border is Ignacio Ramos. One was of Puerto Rican (Boricua) ancestry. I support both of these men and have email several Congressmembers on their behalf including my own D.C. Delegate Eleanor Holmes-Norton.

The NAACP should no longer remain silent on the illegal immigration issue and speak out against it. A century ago, immigration was also a hot button issue among black leaders. Marcus Garvey, Booker T. Washington, and W.E.B. DuBois railed against Eastern European immigrants that crowded Northern cities. They stated, the new immigrants elbowed blacks out of the bottom rung manufacturing jobs. Today the same thing is happening to black America with the influx of illegal aliens, mostly Spanish speakers from Mexico, Central/South America, and Dominican Republic.

Juan Diego, please read the article attached below. My family is originally from Durham, North Carolina. Traditional black neighborhoods in Durham have been transformed into Mexico/Central American barrios within 10 years. My mother, aunts, uncles, grandmother, cousins, and friends in Durham are outraged at what has happened in their city with the influx of Mexicans/Central Americans into their neigbhorhoods. As I stated, many Salvadorans/Mexicans don't like or are racist towards blacks or Afro Latinos. Blacks share a cultural bond with Puerto Ricans, Dominicans, and Afro Cubanos back to slavery, but not with Mexicans/Salvadorans. Puerto Ricans have been U.S. citizens since the Jones Act of 1917. As a black man, I too speak Spanish and I have been called the N word by Salvadorans/Central Americans living in the D.C. area many times, not knowing I too spoke Spanish.

Mr. Diego I concur with your statement. Many Puerto Rican and Mexican Americans have contributed to our country by serving in the military and being patriotic. On the issue of illegal immigration, I don't support it regardless of race.
I don't support it either. The problem I have with you is that you tend to GENERALIZE and don't judge people on their individual merits. You of all people should know that. EVERY racial or ethnic group is capable of bigotry INCLUDING AA's and Mexican Americans. You make it seem like only Illegal Aliens are bigoted towards you and your people. Give me a break BD. Even some Africans don't like you and trust me not all Cubans, P.R. or Dominicans like you. I've heard it from their own mouths during my 20 years in the Army. Some like you, some don't like you, simple as that. You can deny it if you wish, but to do so would really discret you BD, because anyone regardless of race or ethnicity knows I'm being not only truthful but logical as well. I know you said MANY were NOT all but still BD you come across as being very divisive. P.S. Honestly..I'm still not 100 percent sure you're even AA. I still have my doubts. Either way Hermano. May God bless you and your loved ones. I'm out.

I can assure you, I am a black man born and raised in Washington, D.C. graduating from Howard University in 1977 and Georgetown University in 1983. I stand by my statement, most Salvadorans/Mexicans are racist against blacks or Afro Latinos. Whether Cubanos, Boricuas, or Dominicans don't like blacks, blacks do share a cultural history with them thru music, food, arts, ect., because the slave trade went thru the Caribbean as it did here in the U.S. Salvadorans/Central Americans have no history in the U.S. and the slave trade didn't go thru El Salvador as it did in Panama.

On the issue of illegal immigration, the majority of illegal aliens are Spanish speaking. What rights do they or should have in the U.S.? The only rights they should have is being back in their native countries. Why are blacks being attacked and killed in Los Angeles by Mexicans legal or illegal base on the fact they are black? You Mexican American Los Angeles mayor is a racist and he supports illegals being in the United States as does the NAACP, Congressional Black and Hispanic Caucuses, the Catholic Church, La Raza, Casa de Maryland, and MECHCA.

If ever you visit Washington, D.C., feel free to stop in northwest Ward 4 D.C. to meet me. I can assure you, I am a black man and the majority of my black neighbors feel the same as I do on the illegal immigration issue. I wish you and your black wife all the best, because it's a rarity a Mexican marrys a black male or female. Many blacks have married Puerto Ricans, but not Mexicans or Salvadorans. To be honest, I don't like El Salvador, it's people, or their culture.

Three Down, One to Go!
Keep the Calls Coming!
Last night, Democratic Leadership partially capitulated and agreed to strip three of the four immigration amendments from the Iraq War Funding Bill that is on the Senate floor this week.
The move came when Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ) made a point of order under Senate Rule 16, which prohibits legislating policy on an appropriations bill. The parliamentarian agreed, and stripped the following amendments:
The AgJobs Amendment that would have granted amnesty to 1.35 million agricultural workers and their families;
The Murray-Gregg Amendment that would have made approximately 218,000 more green cards available for multinational executives and so-called "highly skilled workers" by "recapturing" visas from as far back as 1994; and
The Leahy Amendment that would have extended for 5-years a program that helps wealthy investors get green cards.
However, Senate sources tell us that the Mikulski H-2B amendment - an amendment that could lead to hundreds of thousands of new unskilled H-2B guest workers flooding the labor market in only a few years - is still in the Iraq War Funding Bill. This is because the Iraq War Funding Bill is being considered in two parts and point of order raised by Senator Menendez only applied to the first part. The H-2B provision is in the second.
Please keep calling your Senators until Democratic Leadership strips this final special-interest immigration amendment from the Iraq War Funding Bill! Tell them that you oppose importing tens of thousands of new unskilled (H-2B) guest workers to appease corporate interests—and especially when the economy is struggling.
We heard throughout the day that your calls put intense pressure on Senators across the country. One staffer told us that the phones were "lighting up like a Christmas tree." Please help us make sure Congress looks out for the American people and not special interests.

This is the NAACP liberal do nothing policy on illegal immigration. I co-sign with Black Democrat on this issue. Mr. Jealous is a liberal progressive and he will support La Raza on the illegal immigration issue.

TALKING POINTS: Immigration
Talking Points:
The NAACP urges lawmakers to be guided by the following humanitarian principles in the deliberation of any forthcoming immigration legislation, including S. 2611, the immigration bill that passed the U.S. Senate in June of 2006.

Oppose efforts to penalize anyone for providing humanitarian assistance to their fellow human beings, regardless of the citizenship status of the person in need of help;
Support due process rights for immigrants facing deportation, including access to fair, humane and common-sense procedures such as a speedy trial and adequate counsel;
Support family unification by not subtracting the visas given to immediate relatives of U.S. citizens
Oppose any efforts that require, encourage or deputize state or local police to enforce federal immigration laws;
Oppose low-level Citizenship and Immigration Service personnel exercising unreviewable authority to judge good moral character of an applicant for citizenship.

I hate to say this but black people can be the most pettiest people on the face of the earth. And WE wonder why we are the laughing stock of the human race. Its because we fight for all the wrong reasons. I have friends in the East Indian community, friends in the Asian community and they all freaking get along for the most part. They don't fight because a person isn't asian or east indian enough. They look at a person credentials and that person's past leadership role. And if that person can move their people forward they put their support behind them and move forward as a people. You people really need to stop being so freaking petty and give the man a chance. He may be the leadership the NAACP need to make it revelent again. Because right now its bull&hit!

Wow! I find it very sad BD that you a person of high intelligence are giving in to the evils of hate and bigotry. Two wrongs don't make a right. You show your true colors with statements such as "I don't like El Salvador, its people or their culture". I hate to say it BD but you're being very HYPOCRITICAL and a BIGOT. Do you realize how foolish you sound by complaining about racism and bigotry and then at the drop of hat turning around and being a Bigot yourself? I may not be as educated as you BD but at least I don't hate ANYONE group of people. My conscience is clean. I prefer to love than to hate. You prefer to hate than to love. You disappoint me BD. Like I said BD. I have much love and respect for AA's and I (unlike you) have the decency to judge persons on their own merit and not on their Nationality or Race. God Bless you my friend. You preach and complain about Bigotry yet you're one yourself. Look in the mirror my friend.

I haven't contributed financially to the NAACP in years, because they have loss their focus and mission on addressing issues in the best interest of the black community. The NAACP supports "Gay Marriage" and have been silent on the illegal immigration issue along with the Congressional Black Caucus. They want to be inclusive of Hispanics and I read an article, a representative of La Raza stated, the NAACP doesn't speak for Hispanics. I live in Silver Spring, Maryland and I agree with the Black Democrat. Illegal immigration is out of control and black citizens are being hurt the most with this growing crisis in our neighborhoods and country. I agree with Dr. Bill Cosby, blacks need to stop blaming others for their situations and start looking at themselves.

Let a white person shoot and kill a black person. The NAACP, Jesse Jackson, Congressional Black Caucus, and Al Sharpton will come running to speak out publicly. Young black males are killing other young black males at a high rate and the NAACP and other so called black leaders are silent. We can no longer blame the "white man" for everything that happens in our life's. When Jamiel Andre Shaw Jr., 17, a black youth, was allegedly shot in the head like an animal and killed on March 2, 2008 by an illegal alien Mexican national named Pedro Espinoza in Los Angeles, where was the outrage from the NAACP and the black community? Stanford, UCLA, and Rutgers Universities showed interest in this promising student and athlete. His mother, Anita Mae Shaw, was and is serving in Iraq in the military when her son was killed in Los Angeles, California. Where were the NAACP on behalf of this family trying to get Jamiel's Law passed by the Los Angeles City Council? Shame on you NAACP, the Congressional Black Caucus, and the black community!

While I deplore violence against anyone and I deeply regret the taking of that young man's life. Believe me Espinoza will definitely get what is coming to him, and rightly so. However, AA's have committed crimes against Whites, Hispanics, Middle Easterners and Asians also. Maybe different circumstances but still violent and cowardly. I could give you many many examples but there is no need to because we ALL know this is true. Please have the decency to be objective about all this. You don't like it when Fox News, Glen Beck or Bill O'reilly care to ONLY concentrate on the negatives of AA's and not the positives. Right? Well, neither do us Latinos Whether here legally or not. Just some food for thought.

Pedro Espinoza shouldn't have been in the United States period. Law Enforcement in California knew this guy was in the country illegally and they did nothing. This is not a matter of black vs. Mexican/Central Americans. It's about obeying the laws of this country. If I break into your house, if caught, I would go to jail. Please name me what law can I commit and get away with in the United States as illegal aliens are getting away with? Los Angeles need to do away with Special 40, not allowing the Los Angeles Police to question people who commit crimes who are suspected of being in the country illegally. I agree with the Black Democrat, what rights should illegal aliens have in this country? As a black U.S. citizen, I can assure you, if I were to cross the border into Mexico or any Central American country illegally, if caught, my black behind would be deported from these countries. The same should happen to illegal aliens in our country. Mexico enforce their southern borders to Central America, but they want us to accept their poorest citizens into our country. Mexico, El Salvador, and other Central American countries need to improve the conditions in their countries so their citizens can stay home and not come to the U.S.

I agree somewhat with your comment, but when a black get's killed or hurt by a white, the NAACP and other blacks are ready to protest, but when this young black kid and those 3 black Newark, New Jersey college students were killed by illegal aliens from Mexico, Central and South America, the NAACP and the black leadership were silent. Why didn't the NAACP, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, and the Congressional Black Caucus protest on behalf of these U.S. citizens killed by illegal aliens? This is the point I was making. If it's the "white man", they are ready to take to the streets in protest as they did in the Jenna Six situation, in Philadelphia with Police Officers beating blacks, and Sean Bell being shot in Queens, New York.

The NAACP is a fossil of and organization and this why their membership has fallen off. Maybe you and other Mexicans/Central-South Americans should join the NAACP financially. I can assure you La Raza would be outraged. I will never contribute one penny to this organization.

If you read my prior posts you will see that I agree with you on the issue of Illegal Immigration. How many times do I have to re-iterate? You're absolutely right in every thing that you say. I'm just opposed to anyone who generalizes and is bigoted. That is all. When BD says all those things about Salvadorans. He is being a bigot and you know it. Look at you for example. You are totally against Illegal Immigration but you didn't make any bigoted remarks. Being against Illegal Immigration does NOT make one a Bigot. Hating or disliking a group of people because of their color of their skin or nationality most certainly is, and you know it my friend. Its doesn't make sense to fight Bigotry with Bigotry. How do you like it when racist Whites make such blanket statements about AA's? You don't like it do you? Of course not! You can't pick and choose when it comes to bigotry. Wrong is wrong.
