Are you saying that people who are not born in the USA are "less fortunate"? My family comes from Europe. We don't consider ourselves any less fortunate then other people.

Erik UCSB wrote: <quoted text> How do you consider yourself a "lawful" resident when your ancestors murdered the original inhabitants of this continent? Just because they committed genocide against them and established a "government", that makes it ok? You, sir, are ultimately NOT a lawful resident of this land. And don't give me this "we stole this land fair and square/might makes right" horsecrap, how about a little respect and decency? Illegal immigrants, just like any other people on this earth, are in search of a better life. When I hear somebody as arrogant as you, who was by luck born in the US, railing against those less fortunate - I get a little peeved. Have you ever considered what it would be like living in the shoes of a migrant? I'm sure you haven't, and frankly, I'm sure your overweight, tubby **** doesn't even care. As for the apparent disportionate crime rate of illegal-immigrants, a bad economy and poverty is the driving factor. Hispanics do NOT commit more crime just because they're genetically predisposed to do so. It's a matter of socioeconomics. I hire day-laborers quite often, and I must tell you - they work harder than any Americanized day-laborer I've ever hired. You certainly get your money's worth with them. I have nothing but respect for these day-laborers. All I ask for is some empathy. This world would be a much nicer place if people weren't so closed-minded. Erik, you sound like a typical, mis-informed, idealistic college kid. Your arguments are tired and uninspired....millions of kids argue the same cr@p every day. When you have a dose of the real world, then you can come back and give your opinion.

But if you are going to tell other people they must have failed a subject in school you may want to make sure you at very least spell the words correctly. Making sure the sentence makes sense also helps.

Capturing neighbors by the thousands and ritually sacraficing them by yanking their beating hearts from their chests and making stew of their limbs for the higher ups... You know people of just about all reces are here as illegal immigrants. It's not just Mexicans. FYI, Aztecs were not Mexicans or vice versa...two different eras in Republic of Mexico's history. If you are going to say something, at least know what you are talking about.

I don't know if any present day Mexicans are of Aztec descent. Did not Cortes wipe out the entire Aztec civilization. It cracks me up when bangers sport Aztec haircuts and imagery thinking that they are somehow related.

I don't mind if they wait on the side of the road and watch for swervy drivers, but I do mind being herded like cattle into some checkpoint and being harassed by the Police as if I did something wrong. Even though I’m not guilty of doing anything wrong, I avoid them as much as I can. I'll make a U turn, or go down a side street when I see one coming up just to avoid being hassled. Seems like somebody has a problem with authority. You should really save up and just buy your own private road system if it bothers you that much. If you're not breaking the law, what do you have to worry about? Why do cops make you nervous?

It seems like posting where a checkpoint will be is like saying "Hey, if you're going to drink Friday night, stay away from_________ cause there will be a checkpoint." I have no sympathy for those who get caught. It is a careless, selfish act to have such disregard for the safety of others. If you are "annoyed" by check points....too bad. You agree when you get a license to submit to testing on the spot if required. I think we should have more checkpoints more often. I dont need some jack hole threatening my safety or well being or that of my loved ones for that matter. I would rather see tax dollars spent on trying to catch drunk drivers over hunting out pot farms any day of the week.
