Illegal immigrants, just like any other people on this earth, are in search of a better life. As for the apparent disportionate crime rate of illegal-immigrants, a bad economy and poverty is the driving factor. Hispanics do NOT commit more crime just because they're genetically predisposed to do so. It's a matter of socioeconomics.
I hire day-laborers quite often, and I must tell you - they work harder than any Americanized day-laborer I've ever hired. You certainly get your money's worth with them. I have nothing but respect for these day-laborers.
All I ask for is some empathy. This world would be a much nicer place if people weren't so closed-minded.

I hate DUI checkpoints, and I don't even drink (never been drunk in my life). When I’m driving around I just want to get to where I'm going and be left alone. I don't mind if they wait on the side of the road and watch for swervy drivers, but I do mind being herded like cattle into some checkpoint and being harassed by the Police as if I did something wrong. Even though I’m not guilty of doing anything wrong, I avoid them as much as I can. I'll make a U turn, or go down a side street when I see one coming up just to avoid being hassled.
