It doesn't matter if you "accept" it or not. The fact is that it exist, and it is in Lynchburg. If you hate it so much, why don't you pack up and move?
BECAUSE FOR THE PEOPLE WHO GREW UP IN LYNCHBURG WE WERE HERE FIRST. WHY SHOULD WE GIVE UP OUR JOBS AND HOMES TO MOVE ELSEWHERE? WHY NOT MOVE THE CORRUPTION, IGNORANCE, AND CIRCUS AWAY FROM US. I WORKED BESIDE LIBERTY, I SAW "VIRTUOUS" LIBERTY STUDENTS HAVE SEX IN PARKING LOTS AT CANDLIERS STATION, SNEAK INTO BARS, DUCK DOWN BEHIND THE SEATS IN THE MOVIE THEATRE, AND HAVE CHILDREN OUT OF WEDLOCK. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO STATE THAT LU IS A "BLESSING" FOR THIS TOWN BEFORE YOU HAVE WITNESSED THE PLAGUE IT HAS BROUGHT FIRST HAND.

First of all, if you think that just because Liberty is a christian university that they do not have immoral students, you are delusional. Secondly, my point was that unless you are willing to commit a felony in order to hurt or get rid of Liberty University, you need to stop complaining about how bad Liberty is because there is nothing you can do about the university being located in Lynchburg, VA.

I am an observer of all these comments. I don't live in the Lynchburg area, but have been to Lynchburg to visit a few times. All these nasty comments about the area makes no sense. How many of you who quickly denounce J.F. have never said anything, or done anything that might be controversial? To start with, your comments about J.F. are controversial with people across the USA. He was not a perfect man, but none of us are. Not too long ago, people thought Tiger Woods was an upstanding man, but we all know what he has been up to. Did Tiger's success have anything to do with his misgivings? Both Tiger and J.F. had resources that not many people have. Both had to live their lives according to their belief systems. J.F. was consistent with his beliefs, and yes controversial statements. Of course, the actions of people who fit into the categories which he spoke against will be offended. I am offended when someone speaks against something I believe in. This doesn't mean that they didn't do anything good in their life. I am not a J.F. fan, or convert, but I do respect the man for standing for what he believes, saying things at times the millions of Americans are afraid to say, and giving young people who desire to have a heart for God a forum in which to do so. I look forward to visiting the Lynchburg area again, not only to see the rich history of the area, but seeing the new history that is being delivered right before our eyes. Not many places in the USA can say that they are creating new history. Lynchburg continues to be a breathtaking place, based on all the good things the area represents, including Liberty University.

What makes any of you think that the students at Liberty are any different than you and I? We were all born in sin, struggle with situations throughout our lives. Thinking that Liberty students do no wrong is ridiculous, just like saying that the ACLU never stands for anything that is ridiculous. My suggestion is for all of you who enjoy downplaying the significance of Liberty University to take a look inward to yourself, worry about what you are doing individually, instead of always looking to tear down others to possibly make yourselves look better? I encourage all of you to lift up the good things in your community, just like all great communities do! If you don't, you are only hurting the community as a whole.

Isn't this world filled with enough "they did this, they did that" attitudes? We are all in this world together, all have a nature to sin, all have the ability to change for the better! How does this change take place? By taking advantage of opportunities to grow inwardly and spiritually. How do we do this? By spending time around others that we can learn from. Liberty provides this opportunity. This doesn't mean that everyone attending Liberty evolves and changes to the better. Liberty does, however give opportunities to grow spiritually. Go to any local church throughout the nation and you will see people that will choose to follow their own wills and desires. This happens in every group of people, including church, or spiritual oriented organizations. So, yes, I can believe you witnessed sinful things that counteract the teachings at Liberty. Their students are no different than you and I, they have to choose to do the right things each day. My hope is that every student at Liberty, as well as every citizen in Lynchburg can be led spiritually throughout their life! "We were all born in sin"

Please fully understand my comment before you reply. I was saying that Liberty students aren't perfect, but neither is anyone else. They have aided the city of Lynchburg profoundly, and I stated that point in my comment.

Furthermore, I was stating that even if there are people who do not approve of anything that Liberty University does or stands for, there is nothing they can do to remove the University from Lynchburg. That is simple common sense. In light of that fact, it does not pay for them to constantly complain about the University.

Right On! It sounds like a dose of maturity might be in order for some people in the Lynchburg area! There are many communities that would love to have an institution like Liberty. I was commenting more on who you were commenting on, sorry for the confusion. I'm a big believer that if a people are unhappy where they live, we are blessed living in a country where they can find a new place where they can be happy! The problem is, unhappiness is just part of some folks lives!

That is definitely true. I am sorry if I seemed a bit edgy in my comments, that was not my intent.

How are you associated with Lynchburg? Do you have family, or friends in the area, or are you from that area? I have family that moved into that area a few years ago. They love the area. I admit, after visiting, it is a very beautiful area.

In Fort Wayne, a new by-pass was built a few years ago. According to "terbear", it should have never been named "Ronald Reagan Highway". Mainly because, not everyone perceives Ronald Reagan in a positive way. "terbear" would have you look over all the good things that R.R. did for our country. This type of thinking, handicaps recognizing prominent people for the good things they do. I guess the new highway could be named "Mickey Mouse" highway, but I'm sure mickey has done something that "terbear" would not like.

Greg, if you want to get your point across, try sounding a little intelligent. You call J.F. evil, yet you seem a little evil yourself with the comments you made. The only people who find J.F. evil are those who he spoke against their Lifestyles. This only makes sense. For example, if J.F. would have stated that basketball should have never been invented! I personally would have a problem with this statement. I love basketball! If I were a gay man, and someone states something about how the Bible states this lifestyle is ungodly, I would have to make a choice over what the bible states, or how I feel. If I choose, how I feel, of course I will have a problem with J.F. making this statement. J.F. has always been controversial, but he also always based his statements on the book he obviously spent much time reading. I feel for you, and the disgust you have inside. I found years ago, that there is only one way to get help. Ask your creator to help you! He has helped me many times.

I was a student at Liberty University, and I hope to be again as soon as I sort out some personal problems at home.

I was born and raised in Lynchburg, Va. but am ashamed to tell people where I am from for fear they will bring up Jerry Falwell. As far as I'm concerned he took a lovely town and ruined it. I used to work for the United Way in Lynchburg and people would come there from out of town who had signed over their homes to JF's church, but when they got to Lynchburg, he "didn't know them" and they were penniless. His son's new sports car was registered as owned by the church. I could go on and on. Just don't name our streets after this man.
WHY DONT SOMEONE MARKET A BRAND OF TOILET PAPER, WITH Jerry's face on each sheet??? That's what i would put 'it's name on! CAUSE HE WAS A P.O.S.!

Wow, what an evil statement! Is self esteem an issue, or, are you this way all the time? I don't know if you realize how ignorant your statement sounds?
I hope you can find some joy before the new year comes. Life is not all about downgrading others. Lift others up for the good they do and BAM!!, magically, you will be uplifted too!

It sounds like you are a great person! I hope you can find the answers to your personal problems and get along with your goals and dreams! I've enjoyed our communication! What years have you been at Liberty? You probably know, or have seen my triplet nieces, as they attend Liberty?

One graduated at the end of 2009 school year, then got drafted to the San Antonio Silver Stars, now playing off season in Turkey. The other two just graduated, passed their boards in nursing. They will all be together over Christmas. I hope you have a joyous and peaceful holiday season.

Daily Horoscope for December 31

Taurus

Friends and partners aren't behaving as you would like today. They're eager to go their own way, much to your annoyance. In order to get round this you're going to have to ask yourself some tricky questions, such as whether you're trying to control everyone's behavior or whether they're being inconsiderate in wanting to do their own thing. It's a Full Moon and a lunar eclipse, so maybe you should all release the tension by making it a super New Year's Eve celebration?
