These animals are obviously very desperate because they are starving. Pups stay with the clan, so where did this one come from, unless the parents are abandoning their pups because of a lack of resources. The fires killed off their natural prey, rabbits, mice, rats, squirrels, etc. Coyote's are very smart, and while they may prey on small pets, usually know to leave people alone! Maybe Fish and Game should try aversion tactics instead of trapping and killing. The bad part about it is for every coyote they trap and kill, another, probably smarter animal will take its place. The solution is to keep your animals inside, your eyes on your kids, and put security latches on the pet doors.

Why don't they just put some food and water out on their turf? The Coyote's don't want to be around us any more then we want them in our homes - but they are looking for food and water. We can, with a little effort, provide these things for them. Why don't we use imagination instead of guns and traps?

Yeah I've had to crawl into the house through the doggie-door a few times too when my wife has been mad at me, sleeping in the dog house is a regular for me.

It's called encroachement. Move closer to wildlife habitat, expect to see more wildlife. Wildlife loses natural habitat and food, becomes desperate for survival. That little chihuahua looks like lunch to a starving coyote, unfortunatley so does a small child. I've hunted coyotes, and believe me, they will not pass up an easy meal! Try making an injured rabbit sound and see how fast these animals will appear out of nowhere. What do you think a crying child sounds like to him? It's like ringing a dinner bell.

I think its disgusting how everyone is so eager to kill a coyote who is doing what they are supposed to be doing in life but no one can kill anyone on deathrow.Im sorry for the kids but come on.You keep building on their homes because everyone here needs a bigger home then their neighbor. So lets get this straight, you build on their homes and when they attack your kids you go right out and Kill the animal.Wow.You are the reason they have no food.

Kill the coyotes. The coyotes are thriving on human expansion. They've spread tremendously throughout the US since the early 19th century. They forage far into suburban and urban settings.
I encounter them frequently far into suburban areas (miles from undeveloped land) while cycling. I notice that they now show much less fear of me than in the past.
