every Prophet that I can remember has posed with the President's of the United States of America, after they have done the genealogy for that President...When you are referring to the picture of President Regan and Hinkley standing together that was when he was not Prophet, but the President of the USA came to Utah and visited with the Church Leader over the Welfare Program the Church has, and I remember Regan stating that if every Religion did what the LDS are doing there would not be a need for welfare... And not all leaders or members of the church are Republican's I know allot of Democrats...issues I have followed and voted for are those that do not break down the moral agency of this nation and its people the family...without families where would we be, and did you know a whole generation is gone, due to abortions and this was put to me this way by a Methodist Minister, she called it genocide.it is called abortion...and what she said is so true, now had I come out and said tat I am sure anti's would have jumped down my throat, but since it is out there by someone of another faith they accept it, we believe in families, and forever,do you not want to be with the one you love and have your kids with you for ever not just till you die, well we know this can be...I am not being taken advantage of, but I am here to help my fellow man, and we as member of this church do that, do you not know the first humanitarian supplies going to a disaster area are from the LDS Church no strings attached...but no matter what I say, you will not accept unless you soften your heart, and ask in prayer having faith and believing,and asking with true intent ti know, then you will know by the power of the Holy Ghost...I am so thankful I have the teachings of our Savior in my life...

Been there, done that. I was a member of the church for 20 years. When there was lots of pressure to support the GOP in my ward from the speakers in Sacrament meeting, from Elder's quorum classes and sunday school classes, I decided to pray and fast to find out why they would support such evil. I felt very uncomfortable sitting with people who hated so strongly that they wanted people in power to do awful things. I prayed and fasted every fast Sunday for 6 months. Finally I received revelation that the Mormon church was being misled. Of course God knew that bush would be a disaster. Anyone with common decency knew that. The members were far from God and were not acting according to his desires and we would easily see that from the fruit of the bush administration. When the member stray so far, it is the responsibility of the leaders, such as the prophet to speak plainly and bring the people back to God. Instead the prophet went along and pushed the people to stray further, to support evil over good. So on the basis of your recommended fast and pray to receive revelation about the church. I have done that. I suggest you do the same. This time ask about what is going on at church, not just what they tell you to fast about. |

been there done that and I received my answer,and I will not mock God, by again asking, when I already received my answer...and I have never been told by anyone in my church how to vote, that is a privilege, and one I take seriously, and I know the Church does too...I am now in my golden years I guess they call it,and I have seen allot, and know what I know to be true...been a member since the age of 8, and I chose to be baptized,never pushed into it, my husband is a convert and I did not pressure him into accepting the Gospel, he chose for himself,our children chose also for themselves, and it is up to them to act upon it, and if you ask them they will tell you they know it is true, not one time have I personally seen what you are professing, told how to vote, I have the right to vote, accept the Gospel or not, and I have chosen to accept it, and I know it to be true, and it bothers me when people who have fallen away, been excommunicated, removed their names from the rolls, can not accept that it was their choice, and they did so because the were offended, could not live the standards, and just let their faith die, it is something we have to nurture every day,we tend to get the back lash i feel because we are different, we do not believe in going with the flow, we believe in truly living our Saviors Teachings,people say we are a cult, we are not, the choice is our own if we want to become members of his church, and like I said, you can not detract from what Joseph Smith said, it stands up to all the garbage people have said, the Book of Mormon is true, our Savior and our Father in Heaven did speak to him, I know this in my very sole to be true, it has been confirmed to me as being true, by the Holy Ghost...Spew away..but remember you once accepted it as the truth, it has not changed, but you have and that speaks volumes as to who we all are...but we all are here to learn and chose the right, and we all will answer for our choices, and the lives we lived here....I am not perfect. far from it, but I am doing the best as I can, and I will endure to the end, and live the Gospel and be the best Teacher and example I can be...

People make mistakes, and if what you posted is true, they are and were in the wrong, we are taught not to Judge, but to live as he lived...and so you were offended, i understand that, but who lost out, you did in my opinion, you knew the Gospel to be true, we the people are human, and I tell you what I have too been offended, but i knew it was ignorance that did it to me, and not the Gospel, and I refused to let it take away what I knew to be true...because if I did that then I was worse then they ever were...Because I then bailed out on what I knew to be true,these things will only make us stronger, and it is our choice to stay or to go...I happened to choose to stay, because I know it to be true, and I want to return home to him, and have my family with me for all eternity...am sorry that you went through that, but you had no faith in yourself it seemed to me, to hang in there and move ahead of narrow minded people...they are in every walk of life, every religion...it is easier though to blame someone else for our failures then to admit,repent of our wrongs and move forward..do not be offended by my post, but I feel strongly that you gave up...as my parents did, they believed but did not want to associate with those who spoke badly about them...and in the end they lost out on allot...

Hello from a fellow Arizonan. I grew up in Eastern Arizona. Rural Arizona has a lot of Mormons. I am Catholic, but I had Mormon friends in high school. They were hard workers and had strong family values. I miss Arizona. I am Native American. I only moved to Florida for an engineering job after the recession of 2001. I earned a 2nd master's degree and was about to move back to Arizona when the recession hit hard. I can't sell my house, and I can't take my Florida job for granted since the economy is really bad. I just have to stick it out here. I hope you don't take Arizona life for granted. I miss it badly. Take care. |

I did not pray and fast about the validity of the church. I asked why so many of the members of the church acted the way they did. Clearly not in accordance with the will of God. I already told you the answer. I would say that you know the prophet is a die hard republican, along with the last one and the one before that. You are taught to follow the prophet and act like he acts. When you go into the voting booth, remember to pray to make a good selection and remember the prophet. True, that is not being told whom to vote for, but almost. If they went any further, they would lose their tax-exempt status. If you did fast and pray for a long time and got an answer to leave the church, to obey God you would have to leave. That is what I did. I don't care for those who criticize people who obey God by saying they could not live up to the standards. I know the standards and if I were interested I could still get a temple recommend (with the exception of church attendance of course). No, I don't drink coffee. I have been faithfully married for 37 years. We regularly have family time with my children and grandchildren. Not going to church is of course my choice. I fasted and prayed and I chose to obey God. You can make your own choice. I would recommend you fast and pray as well. Do it often and with purpose. Make every Sunday a fasting day. |

I have often been accused of being offended. It is not so much being offended as being with people acting badly. I don't want to be around people acting badly. They can chose to act however they want, and I can chose not to be around them. I think to some extent you are missing the point. While the members were acting badly, I still went to church. I did not quit until after I had received revelation from God about how to act. How can I do any missionary work, if the members and leaders of the church act so badly? Why would I bring my friends to church to be treated badly? When the leaders lead in obviously bad ways, why would any one follow? I am not offended by your post, because I understand your point of view. I don't agree with it, but I understand it. I do have plenty of faith in myself and again, I did not leave the church until directed by God from personal revelation after much fasting and prayer. I do not need the church to tell me not to drink coffee. I won't drink it anyway. The stronger moral teachings I don't have a problem with. The problem comes in when they apply those teachings to modern days where they pick horrible people and hold them up as great examples. I cannot accept that anyone who orders children to be tortured is a good person. Those who hold that activity up as a good example will not get my support. Since I cannot support the leaders of the church and I have personal revelation I am not a member of the church. If I went there now, and they started praising war and death and destruction, I would not keep quiet. Therefore I don't think they want me there. |

Don, I see you have not responded to my earlier post. Is that because you can't?
Very interesting. Did God reveal to you that you should accuse the Church of aligning itself with a particular political party, when in fact it has done no such thing? Did God reveal to you that you should present your overblown interpretations of alleged sacrament talks by anonymous people, to an audience not necessarily familiar with LDS belief and practice,*knowing* that many of your audience would not realise that such talks are given by random members of the congregation, and represent their own views, and not the position of the Church? Is that what God revealed that you should do? Regards, Pahoran |

here is my thought, take it or leave it, The Gospel is true, correct? so why do we tend to blame the Gospel for bad behavior, I mean, people act badly, but that does not change the Gospel of our Savior one bit, because it is his teaching set in stone, and he does not change does he, but we humans do, and we tend to blame someone else for it, if my Prophet is as you say a die hard Republican, his choice, but I have never been forced to vote their way,what I do recall is them telling us to study the issue out, learn all we can about it before we vote, then vote how we fill is best for us at that time...Also some people tend to have inflated ego, and that shows in talks, and actions, but again does that change the Gospel, no it does not...I have run the gambit as far as being a member, prejudices, to people say I wasn't a member because I was not born and raised in Utah,and I nicely let them know that if I am not a member then neither are they, because the church was not started in Utah,and they backed off, being Native American Indian, and my children being that and also Italian, it was rough, but hey I lived through it, I asked my Bishop at the time why are they like that, and he said they do not know how to deal with me and my honesty...but they changed and got better, I grew in the Gospel and also realized I also put out there a bad vibe towards them a preconceived idea...it was me not the Gospel that needed help, because the Gospel is true no matter how many time we say I left or I was offended,it was us who chose to be offended, our Savior Gospel is true, sound and forever noever to change, but we mere mortals we have a problem and it is called as I put it going with the flow, and taking what others say to personal, and getting offended to easy...I wish you nothing but joy and happiness in your life, and I am so saddened that you have chosen to let go of the Gospel...but we all are here to learn and to make choices right, and we will answer for all our choices...good luck...I have enjoyed talking with you, you do not come across as angry, we tend to chat well, thank you for that..

1 You were being facetious in your questions; just like the questions in this post. Just to let you know, I don't have to respond to dis-ingenuous people. You can smear anyone you want at any time, but don't expect to be rewarded for it. Even your friends will realize how you act and turn away. |
||||
And yet, here you are; responding to me, trying to justify why you're not responding to me. The fact is, Don, that you don't "have to" respond to anyone, ever. But my questions were *not* "facetious" at all; rather, they went to the heart of your claims. Do you really think you should be able to throw out a raft of false accusations, and then get a free pass? That no-one should dare to question you about anything, at all? You claimed that the Church supports a particular political party. Your claim was false. You claimed that photos of Church leaders with a Republican president proved your claim; I pointed out that there are similar photos with Democrat presidents. You claimed that sacrament meeting talks expressed the Church's political affiliation; I pointed out that such talks represent the speakers' views. You claimed to have received invitations in terms that sounded decidedly odd. I asked for particulars about those invitations in order to get to the bottom of who was inviting you to what and in what circumstances. Your refusal to answer rather supports my suspicion that you exaggerated for dramatic effect. My questions, that go to the substance of your accusations, are a "smear?" How does that work, exactly? Regards, Pahoran |

To Realist: What kind of Native American are you?...and why don't you let someone else sell your house while you come back to the land you love? I am LDS.

a long time ago, when the church was just really starting to grow, my ancestors requested from other religions to be taught and they turned the tribe down, ignored their request, then they heard about this new religion, and wrote to Utah, and Missionaries were sent,they listened, they studied and they read and they prayed, and they were converted to the Gospel, and many wonderful things took place, things that today are spoken of in reverence, and 99.9% of the tribe joined the church it was not easy for them, being Indian, being Mormon, and living in the South...still they remained true to the faith...and it is from this stock that I partly come from, and am so glad and so relieved that they asked, and were answered and were given and accepted the Gospel...the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is true, his teachings do not change, but some people tend to do things that are not in accordance, and wow when that happens the negativity of those who did the wrong,or fell away jump on the band wagon to blame the church, when in all reality it was the choices they made that caused them to fall away...So that to me tells me they had little faith, their testimony was built upon sand...we have to feed out testimonies, nourish them regularly, and always be on the look out for those who want to destroy us...I am so blessed with knowledge at my finger tips, and with the fact that I know when I pray my prayers are heard, and answered...and that he is there for me all the time...thank you my ancestors who were willing to not follow the trend, and knew this was and is true, and joined the Church...the Catawba Indians were educated, they learned how to read and write English long before the Missionaries came to them...so it does bother me when those who accept the Gospel fall away and bad mouth the Gospel, when they attack the Mormon Religion they are attacking me, and my ancestors is how I feel...

Religions seek a few things: political power, control of people's thoughts, and money.
God is sitting with you right now! Don't need to go looking for him in a fancy building. There were no buildings in the days of Jesus Christ. This guy talked to people in the middle of anywhere. |
||||

Wow! It's amazing to me that in this day and age, some humans still have "imaginary friends!" I was going to encourage you to grow up, get educated, travel the world, and all that shit; but I just can't because the sorrow that I feel for you is just too overwhelming. I was LDS until I went to college and my eyes were opened that very first year. I hope that soon YOUR eyes will be opened and you can stop praying to 'imaginary friends' and start REALLY living! Don't you want to be an enlightened parent for your children?
|
||||
|
We like having imaginary friends. They are fun to hang out with.
Getting educated is so subjective. Simply going to college doesn't make anyone educated. This usually means that you had patience to sit through lots and lots of very boring lectures. This does not mean you are educated. Let people believe in what they wish to believe in. I don't really have any issues with this. I have concerns over people having to contribute money to people who run big fancy buildings in the name of God. Well, don't know about any of you. I don't remember the last time God came down to ask for his share of the earnings. It's a business, plain and simple. |

yes they did have buildings they were called synagogues,and that is where our Savior told them after he read to them that the Prophecy is nor full filled and they were angry, and wanted him dead even more, so yes they did have building of worship during his time...My eyes were open the day I was baptized into his church, please do not feel sorry for me, if that is how you fill, please feel sorry for those who have lost the faith, and are heading in the wrong direction, one day we all will meet and then you all will say if only I had believed and endured to the end, and it is by doing this and his atoning sacrifice, and loving grace that I will be able to be with him..go ahead and spill all the lies you want, I know the truth, and I will stand by it till the day I die...
