Old news. Read about it in the Journal yesterday, when the news was only 24 hours old. Now that it's 48 hours old, you folks can read about it in The New Mexican, the state's most irrelevant news source. At least the NMican has a usable (just barely) web site, compared to the Journal. But they don't do half the investigative reporting the Journal does.

Time to change or die, newspapers.

Yes, here we come! Bringing good thoughts and lots of dollars for the local community.
We know there will be a few bad apples among us but we hope the people of Cuba keep their minds and hearts open.
And you can count on us to leave the land better than we found it!
Loving you!

Silly reporters, everyone knows there's no such thing as "official" in
Rainbow. The Rainbow Family of Living Light might well be the same
"official group" who applied for a permit by that train of thought -
unless there are indeed some individuals who are not truely Living in
the Light and have subjugated the whole of humanity without consent.
It's only "official" if it is used in court right?

No sir, I believe this report is mistaken on several accounts .... no
person who holds the ideologies of the Rainbow Family sacred would
dare subjugate their brothers and sisters by officially applying in
the name of The Rainbow Family of Living Light for a commercial permit
without following traditional counsel processes and getting a
consensus first. Too early in the month for them to have had a proper
counsel on the land for such purposes that effect so many people.

"The group has applied for a commercial use permit, according to
Maese." http://www.santafenewmexican.com/Local%20News... ...

Welcomehere.org is a loving effort of combined heartsongs deadicated
to Spirit and the Children of the Rainbow Family Tribes. This site
does not represent nor speak for the Rainbow Families of the Living
Light, Rainbow Family Counsels, the kind host providers, tribal
circles, you or anyone else. You are encouraged to speak for yourself.
Special thanks to all the folks who dedicate their time, focus and
energies to help create the magic that is Rainbow and shine beautiful
whenever they can. It is by our deeds and kindness that we will
journey together the trail towards home. Much love and respect to you
and yours from our lumpy circle, forever loving you! http://welcomehere.org/

\\\ The reporter must have missed that kindclaimer :)

if you don't get around much and choose to talk about transplants instead of the issue at hand.

Respect for the land is weak - there is litter everywhere and abandoned vehicles and appliances in remote areas. No cleanup to speak of. I always bring a trash bag with me and invariably pick up somebody else mess. Nothing to be proud of.

Been around plenty and yes there is trash everywhere, some of it left by natives who simply don't care and much of it left by people passing through who just don't care, and much of it left by people who transplated from other areas who just don't care.

Were going to bring Millions of dollars into your community.

I have seen in my fifteen years of rainbowing many places on the verge of selling everything and moving on. The store owners pray and pray for something.
And here we are answering your prayers.

I promise this will be the kindest group of people you have ever met.

I would not spend the money to come out there if it was not the best: most life changing event.

I hit three rainbows a year for a total of thirty days of camping. Its a really nice way to live and a very cheap vacation.

They call it a family because you see the same people every year.

I really can`t say enough about the group.
We care about the land, obviously.

The towns people will love the parade of freaks that come in and out. I don`t care how much you hate the idea of all those people coming into your community. I guarentee you will miss us once we are gone.

To the people of Cuba NM...... The rainbow family has been gathering in a different national forest (set aside for the use of all people) since 1972. My family has been attending since 1993. Every year we leave behind the rigors of everyday life and gather with our extended family to enjoy each other and celebrate the earth. During the gathering their are many things going on. There are earth walks that allow people to learn about the plant life, trees and vegetation in that area. Yoga is taught so that people can learn how to heal themselves and be healthy. Trade circles are also amazing. Here items are traded without the use of cash. You will find handmade clothing, jewelry, and zu zu's (snacks), as well as many cool things. The multiple kitchens feed all the people using primitive cooking skills that seem to have been forgotten because of technology. There are multiple groups of different religions allowing people to get in touch with there spirituality. To my family and many others this is a week or so of healing. The most amazing thing is all of this is free. Yes, I said it free. I encourage anyone who is curious to please attend so that may experience the magic of this occasion before drawing a conclusion about the gathering. As far as the people of Cuba's concerns about the impact on the environment, they do not fall on deaf ears. You can rest assured that I personally do not know another family that loves the earth as much as ours. our cleanup and restoration will be immaculate. We love and invite you to one of the best family reunions out there. Peace and love people of Cuba.

And every year store owners report numerous cases of shop lifting, locals have their lives disrupted, there are cases of drug abuse if not over doses, you see as much good as you think you are doing you also do harm.

IF they behave as described in this instance, then let them do their thing. If they don't, then no more gatherings.

It appears they do have some sort of organization and hierarchy, otherwise the above described wouldn't have happened. The claim that there isn't appears to be a dodge, and doesn't help their cause.

Perhaps you should be happy that the transplants coming to your area are not the type that dont care. Dont be suprised if they clean up the messes left by uncaring locals, others who passed threw, or the transplant that didnt care. These are definatly people who care. of course there are some bad apples but the majority will clean up there mess also. Its a shame to chop at a fruitfull tree becouse of a few bad apples.

These people care about nothing but self, the fact that they cry because they are actualy expected to follow the regulations that everyone else has to follow.

Then there is the druggie who was arrested for what he called "medicinal marijuana" while law enforcement had tips that he was was dealing LSD....also realizing that "medicinal marijuana" was not legal at the time, or the fact that the COWARD ran into the childrens area knowing that he was being pursued...kind of sounds like the terrorist overseas hiding behind civilians.

Hmm...very informative. Yes, the people of Cuba and surrounding towns have a lot of Rainbow money coming their way-so stock the shelves. Yes, the Rainbows say they don't need a permit. Please read the First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States to find out why. Nothing in there about a permit.
Finally, YES, the Forest Services National Incident Management Team is out there just like last year. Cars are being searched with dogs. The Commandos that raided Kiddie Village last year are on site already, toting their pepperball guns and terrorizing random encampments. The Locals are also being harassed right along with the Rainbows for all the regular stuff(temporary speed limits, random stops, etc). Make sure everything is legal before coming.
Come on out and see it for yourself if you don't believe me.

Daily Horoscope for November 14

Virgo

As much as you would like to tell a certain someone off today, it's wiser to bite your tongue. E-mail can come back to haunt you; we all know stories of someone who accidentally sent the wrong memo out to the entire office. If you really must vent, wait until you get home and then tell your partner your woes. Go for a long walk first to get the edge off.
