I would love to know why I am reading this information in the daily herald with no notices whatsoever from the school. Also noticed a news van in the parking lot there today. Hopefully this is just an incident overdramatized by a student and parent.

Hopefully you're right, but maybe they have something to hide especially since they didn't even mention the teacher's name in the article.

Just left the school from a 5th grade concert the kids had. There is a channel 5 van in the parking lot.

This sounds like the kind of thing a student says when he or she is mad at a teacher. Thank goodness the teacher's name is not given. Can you imagine being accused of something and having your name plastered all over the news before anything has even been investigated? This type of ridiculous accusation is sensationalized by the media.

Well, I just watched the news and it certainly seemed like she was hurt and quite upset. Sounds as if this little one has had a tough life and didn't need to be roughed up. I'm guessing it's time for a permanent time-out for this teacher.

First off that was a premature comment there and for you to just assume that the report was false shows that your judgment is biased. We saw both interviews and my daughter goes to school with that little girl and she is by far a trouble maker. Let them investigate.

My hope that this was just an overdramatized incident were dashed when I saw that little girls face. This is a child who needed extra attention, guidance and nurturing. What she received was a bruised arm and further trauma. Much praise to the father of this girl for showing her that bullying will not be tolerated, even by a teacher.

I feel sorry for all parties invovled but I don't agree with the news media putting the girl on camera. She has been through enough why put her through that. And I saw a teacher from another Antioch school today and she had no clue what happened. Why hasn't the school district notified the parents. AES is a good school.

I think that it is very sad they put the child on TV. If she has actually gone through this the media and the parents should have had the common sense to not make her do that. But of course we are talking about the main stream media who cares nothing about that child or the teacher for that matter. I am sure that the district is working with their legal team to draft a letter to parents, and I also commend them for not releasing the teachers name until all of the facts are straightened out.

I am sure he is so distraught, just look at his cover picture of him with his friends at the bar. Antioch, full of trash, people like that make our town look bad! Everyone looking for their hand out, but have enough money to go to the bar.

Another local teacher gone bad.
Why am i NOT surprised ?
when are we going to get these teachers FULLY investigated, lie detected and drug tested routinely, and held responsible for teaching our kids and keeping them SAFE while at school.

Every time i write about the problems in our school i get a ton of feedback that its only a few bad teachers.
NO IT ISN'T
But its only a few that get caught and even less that are held accountable.

The teacher in question has been at AES for a long time now. Until the we have all the facts, let's not throw her or the student under the bus. And either way its a sad situation for all parties involved. But I would have paraded my child on tv.

What a horrible statement. Since when is it illegal to go to an establishment that has a bar? And that makes him trash? Look in the mirror please, you obviously have a serious issue.

I don't care how long she has been a teacher. How dare she put her hands on a child! I saw the bruises. It certainly is a sad situation. If this teacher was so overwhelmed she could not handle a 10 year old without getting physical, she should have found another line of work a long time ago. I hope she and the child get all the counseling they need.

No child should be touched by a teacher you are correct. But let's get all the facts before we crucify the teacher or student or parent. The only thing I don't agree with is putting the child on tv, its going to cause her more harm then good. And how many teachers have been falsey accused and their careers ruined. I am not saying she didn't do it, but until I have all the facts I am not going to jump on the band wagon of crucifing her...

Do we even know if the abuse was from the teacher? or possibly at classmate or maybe it even started at home. Lets see the facts!

It's just very hard to explain away those bruises. I'm guessing if they were done by her parent he would be in jail right now and we all would have no problem with it. Since it was her teacher, we all have to wait for the "facts". I know you are probably right but that teacher taught my child also, and I am furious.
