There has been quite a few wrecks on The Bluff City Road in the past few years, with two of the being fatal and one nearly fatal. The nearly fatal one happened on the 24th of July and almost cost Bluff City the life of one of their citizens. Christine Garancosky was seriously injuried in a head on accident that day. She was traveling south on the road and a blue pickup going north passed her. It was kicking up a lot of dirt and she took to the edge of the road and slowed down. When she could see again, she saw another pickup in front of her then nothing. She says she only had time to say "Oh sh_t!" Then she woke up a week later in the St. Francis hospital in Wichita. She will not ever be the same as her right ankle was crushed and she had a compound fracture of the tibia and fiblua of her right leg. She had big gashes in both of her upper arms with the one on the left being worse that the right. It was gushing blood when her husband arrived on the scene and wrapped his belt around it to stop the bleeding. She also had a large laceration to the head just above the bridge of her nose and a smaller one above that on the left side. These were caused by the hood coming in through the windshield and smacking her in the head. What is so ironic is Christine has been trying to get the county comissioners to repave the road. It was reclaimed about8 to 10 years ago and the citizens and anyone else who travels that road have had nothing but trouble with it. It is a very dangerous road in its present condition. It is very washboardy in places, sandy in others and if it isn't the sand or the washboards that get you it is the dirt that is kicked up when you travel it. It needs to be repaved. Any suggestions?
