We are considering moving to the Anniston/Oxford area. I am just looking for local opinions. How are the Oxford schools? How are the doctors/hospital in the area? While I don't believe everything I read, I am concerned about the chemical contamination problems in the past. Is it safe now? Bottom line, is it a good, safe place to raise children, local activities, etc. I thought I read about a train to Birmingham? Is that something people use? Thanks for any information.

Hi. To answer all your questions, yes Oxford is a great place to raise your children. I have 1 child in 5th grade ( VERY pleased with school ) and I also have a child in 3rd grade ( and very pleased). Oxford is growing, was a small town but not so much now. Hope this helps

Thanks for the info. It looks like a very nice area. Also convenient to Bham and Atlanta. I have one child going into the 8th grade and another going into the 4th grade. So I hope the middle school is good too. That is such a hard age.

I Lived there in the mid 70's. I'm wondering what are the taxes like on local properties?

Yes to Oxford. No to Anniston. Oxford much safer. Anniston has turned into thug-ville where robberies occur during broad daylight. Anniston has really gone downhill. Oxford is the place to be.

Jacksonville has great schools and a small town atmosphere plus you are only 20 minutes from all the shopping etc. in Oxford.

Daily Horoscope for December 26

Taurus

It's important that you leave yourself plenty of room to manouvres during the weeks ahead, as Mercury turns retro today, especially when it comes to making decisions and airing your opinions to the world. You need to be as flexible as possible right now, otherwise you could find that you've boxed yourself into a corner and have to do some serious back-tracking. You need to consider all points of view and not just your own.
