I used to drive much faster when younger and sometimes we would try to race a train to the crossing, making a decision to go or not go long before the crossing came up, which was generally not gated. Some trains were going over 70MPH. If the track bed is sound, going 110 is not a problem to the train. It will be a problem for those crossing the tracks and underestimating what 110MPH really means. Also, I believe these will be passenger trains. They won't be moving a 120 car coal train any faster than today, which is about 3MPH through Plymouth.
