This doesn't surprise me one bit. The Altoona Police Department, as well as the rest of this town's government are as corrupt and as rotten as they come.

The story has been basically wiped out from the web. Essentially the cops took the opportunity to harass a couple that's been a political thorn in the side of the city council. The police got a call from a tenant the couple, Heather and Aaron Bucklin, was trying to evict from one of their properties. The police showed up, escalated the situation and made up a bunch of shit to get the Bucklins arrested. The charges were dropped by the county attorney in short order once they figured out what happened. The Bucklins are now suing the city and everyone involved with the harassment, right up to the former police chief and the arresting officers personally, and city officials are howling out in pain.

Hopefully the Bucklins can sue Altoona into bankruptcy. It's a highly corrupt city, from the City Council, to the police department, all the way down to the city employees.
