If that is true I hope they tear down the old one and rebuild. It would be a shame and an eyesore if they just left vacant building there and built somewhere new.

I can't remember how many different people/companies ran a grocery out of this location. The building would indeed be an eyesore if left vacant, and I just can't imagine what kind of business would move into it.

Heard a rumor awhile back that Leblancs in Zachary might open a store up here. Are the two families related?

I heard that the people who own the little store will build a big store close to NAPA. The little store will then become a family dollar.

Anyone notice that there has been many people closing up shop in the last few months? Hill Country Smokehouse, Tobacco Mart and Radio Shack soon to name a few. Why would you want to open new business here if the town cannot sustain the existing ones?

Why would you want to open new business here if the town cannot sustain the existing ones? This is the third high-priced meat shop to go under-seems like simply a bad idea here. Tobacco Mart went into competition with two grocery stores and Audubon liquor; and had a poor selection. RadioShacks all over the country have been shutting down for years, and the fact this one has survived this long is a testament to the people who run it.

Heard Leake Oil Co. is in serious financial trouble. Also heard the Cozy Corner Bistro will soon be ancient history, and the same goes for The Ox Bow Restaurant. This is all rumor and I hope none of it is true. What is happening in WF Parish? And now we have a tax increase election coming up. I don't think I'll be voting for a tax increase for ANYTHING.

"It's the economy, stupid." No, not calling anybody on here stupid, that's just a direct quote and it reflects what's happening all across the country. And here's the answer: If local people don't support local businesses, yes, they sure will have to go out of business. How many times have you patronized one of those businesses now gone? Surely you eat; could you not have at least purchased something from the meat market? Surely you have electronics or phones; could you not have bought at least something from the local Radio Shack? Been to the local restaurants lately? The Cozy Corner might have issues with food appeal, but the Oxbow food can hold its own with any of the upscale restaurants anywhere. Shame on us all if we don't shop/eat locally.

I agree, Cozy Corner won’t make it because poor quality. The Oxbow is my favorite local restaurant, however the past six months or so they have been slacking. Went by for lunch awhile back and they were closed, another occasion they were out of several menu items. Local people will support good restaurants; Magnolia and Que Pasa are always packed. You can’t blame locals for bad food and poor management.

They were closed for a weekend recently, but pretty sure they are still in business unless something changed in the last few days.

I shop local. It is important we support the businesses in our town. I do realized larger families have to shop at larger grocery stores because of cost, our children are grown and no longer living at home so shopping locally for food is not an issue for us. I eat at all the locally owned resturants and I shop at Radio Shack. Please help these business by shopping locally.

In no particular order. River Bend, Piggly Wiggly(now St. Francisville Market), MacDonald’s, Cecile Graves, Ramada Inn(now Magnuson), Sonic Drive Inn, Jets, Swiftys Truck Stop. This is just a few. Others moved on and located elsewhere. I’m sure there’s some more that I can’t recall.
