This outage is also affecting general phone service and internet services. Calling up to businesses in the northern part of the state, we've experienced perpetual busy signals and websites are down as well.

We are in ABQ for business this week from Questa, NM and have not been able to get through to our Qwest VM, or home/office phone. We've tried neighbors in Questa and Taos and get an automated response saying that we have reached a "non working numbers." Both our website & email are also out.

Landlines, cellphones and internet service have been out for most of the day(since 9:30AM). I'm still not receiving any calls from outside Taos and my internet service just came back up 10 minutes ago. All cell service is still down.

This is completely absurd for a portion of the state to be completely cut off from all communications for an entire working day. All the banks had to close and no stores are able to accept credit or debit charges. Hello....this is 2008, right? What in the heck is going on?

I live in Glorieta and cannot make a call to Santa Fe AND my Verizon phone is showing No Service which has never happened in the three years I've been using it from my home. This has been going on all day, since at least 10:30am. What is going on?

Word has it that this was caused by a NM RailRunner construction crew cut a fibre optic line.

It may be severe enough that no service will be available until tomorrow.

I overheard somebody say, "It's like being back in the 50's".
