Beech-Nut to leave NY village after 118 years

Full story: Newsday

Why does a huge corporation get millions, and a tiny town get screwed? Why doesn't the state help the village and the candy maker? Is the millions spent really cost effective when looking at the addition of 100-something jobs? And I bet jobs will be lost through attrition over the next few years, so that benefit will be short term.

Keeping Beech-Nut in New York is a coup for state officials.
And the biggest big-time, suck-o-rama, death-knell for the locals and the village - not that the officials actually care about the PEOPLE…
The Mohawk Valley is dotted with faded cities that lost signature industries, like glove makers in nearby Gloversville and rug factories downriver Amsterdam.

How come Hillary gets a pass? Wasn't she elected to save business upstate?

Truth is, since she came in the upstate trend has been down, down, down.

NYS Dems haven't a clue about saving our oldest businesses. Tax and spend destroys - not saves.

It is amazing that we are fulfilling this self perpetuation of outsourcing and companies leaving based on us demading CHEAP products. Anyone that shops at walmart or just wants cheap garbage can but the blame on themselves.

With that said...I will be buying land out of the country...part investment...sell of some when im ready for a second home and eventualy retire out of this..what will be a 50% tax rate from the Feds and God knows what in NYS to keep feeding the pigs at the trough for spend spend spend politics.

Daily Horoscope for December 26

Capricorn

Mercury retrograde in your sign will cause some friction between you and other people during coming weeks. Matters that have been bubbling away in the background will come to the boil, forcing you to do something about them. Try not to overreact, nor to create a crisis out of something that's really very minor. You should also keep a strong sense of fair play and pay attention to every little detail.
