I Can See Massachusetts From My Border

Full story: lezgetreal.com

Be afraid- Massachusetts already has same-sex marriage! It almost seems as if the people opposing marriage equality in Maine are phoning it in. After all, they are recycling the same ads that ran in California for the Prop 8 battle for the upcoming voter veto initiative in Maine. Apparently they never got the memo that the drive from Maine to Massachusetts takes….about half an hour depending on traffic. Getting to Vermont takes about forty minutes. And, from some places, you can literally see Canada and New Hampshire from your house.

i don't get it! why do the haters care? what i want to know is, how exactly is marriage being ruined by gay marriage? are they aware 50%(yes 1/2) of all marriages in the U.S. end in divorce? are they so ignorant they fear if it's out in the open gangs of gay people will convert the straights and there will be no one left for conventional marriage? are they afraid it will be too tempting to pass up? i don't get it. OR is it that they are trying to force gay people to fit in their mold so they feel more comfortable? is it because they want to keep the world in their own frame of reference with no progression in any direction. Or could it be they are just scared homophobes and haters. Don't forget the ever alluring 'religious' beliefs. Hey, they are welcome to their religious beliefs, but please don't push it off on others (we live in America). We don't want to be 'converted' for our own good. we just want to live, be happy and live our lives. But all our good, christian brothers and sisters won't have it. They have to lie, cajole, intimidate, scare and brutalize us into submission. Don't look now but your reinforcements and support are dwindling. wonder who'll be hated on next?

From Mt. Katahdin, you can see Canada, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Vermont (and, on a very clear day, New York as well).

Denise: According to Massachussetts statistics, since marriage equality was established (2004), the divorce rate in the Commonwealth has actually gone DOWN. So, it seems that marriage equality actually strengthens marriage here...

if you stand on top of any mountain or secluded hill with a friend or two and everyone is very quiet and there is no one else around, if you listen really hard, you can't hear the haters and the homophobes. great huh?

I'm heading out to a nature area in Canada for the weekend. Hope that same silence holds there.

Daily Horoscope for December 22

Taurus

Time is hurtling towards Christmas Day and it seems that you're in a panic about how you're going to get everything done in time. You may even have reached the stage where you've ground to a halt because you don't know what to do first. So take a deep breath, calm down and do things one at a time. Otherwise you'll end up feeling confused, tired and tearful.
