This and many other farm accidents
only solidifies the many dangers our farmers go through every season. They are at most times out there alone and on an island with time & distance a matter of life or death for them. It's a good thing this story was told and hopefully the outcome of the recovery for his boy is good. |

1 As a fellow farmer, all the personal protective equipment out there can't keep everyone safe. If the wind is in just the right direction and gusts at the right time the vapors can get past a full face shield. It doesn't take much of any chemical to cause problems. |

1 Then there is this concept called common sense. If a wind or breeze and using chem then don't do it. So many people just plain don't use common sense. Read the labels. If this was such a danger when all precautions are used then how come more are not dead from it ???? Still it is a loss, sorry for that. |

1 I agree. My family started farming in the 1890s. For every protection, something else occurs. We had neighbors that died in tractor turnovers (after driving for 40 years with no accident), repairing tractor tires, etc. And they will keep on happening. Be safe. |

1 There have been times that I will be out working when the wind is dead calm and all of a sudden a gust comes up and I can't just drop what I'm doing. Even if there is a wind and it is in the right direction the wind can shift direction unexpectedly. |

1 on their land? What is so vitally important to them that they put their lives at risk? And no telling what it is doing with the environment! |

What is vitally important to the farmer is your desire to keep a constant source of food at the ready. |

1 My guess is because people like to eat. |

Ask yourself that same question at lunch today. |

Unfortunately, this is common in the non-farming sector now, too. As Missouri knows, those making Meth and using anhydrous have succumbed to it's lethal compound.
God bless this family; and in spite of the severity of this kids injuries--they truely are lucky. |

1 A better version would be, "Farmer Wisely Calls Ambulance, Foregoes Pickup Ride to ER." First impressions rule! |

I agree. That title was misleading. |

The food that you shovel in your mouth on a daily basis. The environment? Good God...grow your S then. |
