Good kids are not arrested a couple of times. Way more to this story than being told.

Who are to judge? This ray of light is in gods arms now. Abby was a beautifl, intelligent person despite making some bad judgement calls. We have all made the wrong choice in our life. She was a mere 18 yaers old and was just staring to taste life so how dare any of you to jude. Pray and night and be sure to tell everyone you know that you love them every single time you can and then some because you never know it may be the last!!!!!!!!!! Bad things happen every where everyday and the best people fall victim don't judge because one day you will have to answer to the final judge!!! REST IN PEACE ABBY RETHLAKE!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE YOU BABY GIRL!!!!!!!!!! MAY GOD HOLD YOU IN HIS ARMS!!!!!!!!!! YOU WILL BE MISSED!!!!!!!!!!

No one has judged yet, because the real story has not come to light. I stand by my statement GOOD KIDS do not get arrested. She might have been on her way to straightening her life out and that's wonderful but to put into print good kids have arrest records is just a little absurd to me.

the fact is, this was a terrible tragedy and the focus should be on putting the shooter to justice and honoring the girls' lives.

First of all...yes good kids can be arrested...Nobody is perfect and although I have never been arrested I knew Abby very well...I went to school with her and was friends with her outside of school and she was such a nice girl...You people are sick to be talking like this about a young beautiful sweet girl who was just shot...abby had so many friends she made good grades, graduated from high school...and yes oh my god she had been arrested...Id like to know how that maked someone a bad person....half the time people in kokomo get arrested for being in the wrong place at the wrong time...Do you even know what she got arrested for? Do u realize what it feels like to have a friend die so horribly and then get on here to find people talking like this...it just goes to show what kind of heartless people there are in this world. Abby you were such a GREAT girl and you will be missed more than u could ever have imagined...i love you and u will always have a place in my heart..

I would prefer to know what lead to these "kids" being shot at. As stated it was a target shooting and the target car (Abby being the owner) was hit. Honoring them before the facts come out is a little premature. What if they were a drug ring? I wouldn't want to honor someone like that. So until the truth comes out I will hope to my higher power that the shooter(s) are caught and dealt with, I will also hope that the truth is told for all to know.

What has/had she been involved in or her passengers or her family or her boyfriend or her associates that would lead to this tragedy?

Telling the full story may open the eyes of one parent to what their child(ren) are doing in the streets.

Is it tragic that these kids at such a young age have experienced such a tragedy, of course it is. Was it just some random shooting that took place out of the blue, No, I don't think so.

I don't know what she or any of the others involved were arrested for, and really it does not matter to me. My demeaning isn't of the participants here it is of the journalist who was ignorant enough to type the statement that they were good kids with arrest records.

The 19 yr old posting here that they have been arrested many times seems mighty proud of that fact.

Enlighten us, were they arrested for truancy or maybe just jaywalking? Knowledge is power!

Anyone can get wrapped up in what's wrong. It doesn't mean they aren't good kids or that their parents didn't do a good enough job raising them. It just happens. I have seen it happen to the best of them. It's just sad that yet another kid is gone due to senseless violence.

Did you ever stop to think maybe she was trying to correct things in her life and that's what lead to the shooting? Or maybe it wasn't even something she did? I have seen it happen before. Whatever the reason, it's still a tragic fact that we have lost someone who touched the lives of everyone around her.

Whatever the reason, she will be honored by many.

I am so sorry for your loss..No one deserves to lose their life at such a young age..my heart goes out to her family and freinds...It is a sad situation..To me, it doesn't matter if she's a good or bad person...what matters is a young life was lost and there are many people with broken hearts and that to me is what is important...

I was a good kid arrested a couple times. Kids are kids, some dabble in stuff more than others. Some get a way with doing things they shouldn't do and some don't. It's great that you were perfect as a kid and never got arrested, but I did, and I'm pretty sure people would tell you I was, and still am a good person. I didn't do anything that would hurt someone else, and neither did Abby. Get a life and quit placing judgement on someone you don't know!

I guess you are missing my point huh? Good kids do not get arrested, does not mean she was going to grow up and be ghetto scum either.

I was not a perfect child and thus had I passed at such a young age I would have hoped that a newspaper would not have listed me as a good kid even though I had been arrested and hung out with those with records also.

Take your rose colored glasses off something is so not right about this situation. A random drive-by maybe it would be understandable but a target shooting where the paper makes you believe the target was gotten is not some random OOPs done to some randomly good kids. Why did the reporter feel the need to include these kdis have/had an arrest record?

How dare any of you assume that Abby wasn't raised well by her parents. Anyone in Kokomo that really knows her family would know that she was raised with an abundance of love, faith and discipline! This family will triumph over this tragedy because of their strong faith in Jesus Christ and closeness to each other!

Sounds like "Nosey like you" needs to get a life! Obviously you either don't have children or by some miracle your children are perfect. Just because these girls were in the wrong place at the wrong time does not say anything about that child. Does not mean the parents werent good parents or these girls were bad girls. I dont care how many times she was arrested or if she was on drugs. I care that there is a callis, evil man out there that has NO worth on a human life. He could be headed to Indianapolis to do the same thing to someone there. Its scary to know that there are such evil people out there! And it is shameful to know that there are people out there with nothing else to do but be self righteous and hurt people with their words. As we all know GOD is our judge and he judges us all equally. Pulling the trigger killing someone is no different than murdering someone with your words! Think about that for a minute. My heart and prayers go out to the Rethlake and Vetter families!

I've NEVER judged her parents nor have I judged HER so if you are going to read my posts please comprehend what I have posted.

The following is absurd ::::"They were good kids that maybe have been arrested a couple times. It's one of those deals of hanging with the wrong crowd," Lt. Whitehead said.

Take our "judging" this situation up with Lt. Whitehead he is the one that made the statement, he is the one stating it wasn't a random act of violence.

I am the first to jump on the bandwagon of people who blame the parents of abled bodied teens/young adults/adults.

By the way I do have children, thanks for your concern!

I am very sad that anyone feels the need at all to make any harsh comments on this. She was 18! Good lord! She had plenty of time to get it together and the parents are not always to blame! It happened, for whatever reason it happened. End of story. She is somebody's baby girl and now she is gone and in a very tragic way. Please, everyone, just stop before her family reads these.

Daily Horoscope for December 22

Aries

Financial muddles are more than likely today so be careful if you're going shopping. You might be accidentally short-changed or there could be a misunderstanding about how much something costs. This isn't a good day to lend friends anything valuable in case they don't return it or they damage it in some way. Better safe than sorry.
