JUST A BIKER
I saw you hug your purse closer to you in the grocery store line. But you didn't see me put an extra $10.00 in the collection plate last Sunday. I saw you pull your child closer when we passed each other on the sidewalk. But you didn't see me playing Santa at the local Mall. I saw you change your mind about going into the restaurant when you saw my bike parked out front.. But you didn't see me attending a meeting to raise more money for the hurricane relief. I saw you roll up your window and shake your head when I rode by. But you didn't see me riding behind you when you flicked your cigarette butt out the car window. I saw you frown at me when I smiled at your children. But you didn't see me, when I took time off from work to run toys to the homeless. I saw you stare at my long hair. But you didn't see me and my friends cut ten inches off for Locks of Love. I saw you roll your eyes at our Leather jackets and gloves. But you didn't see me and my brothers donate our old ones to those that had none. I saw you look in fright at my tattoos. But you didn't see me cry as my children where born or have their name written over and in my heart. I saw you change lanes while rushing off to go somewhere. But you didn't see me going home to be with my family. I saw you complain about how loud and noisy our bikes can be. But you didn't see me when you were changing the CD and drifted into my lane. I saw you yelling at your kids in the car. But you didn't see me pat my child's hands knowing she was safe behind me. I saw you reading the newspaper or map as you drove down the road. But you didn't see me squeeze my wife's leg when she told me to take the next turn. I saw you race down the road in the rain. But you didn't see me get soaked to the skin so my son could have the car to go on his date. I saw you run the yellow light just to save a few minutes of time. But you didn't see me trying to turn right. I saw you cut me off because you needed to be in the lane I was in. But you didn't see me leave the road. I saw you waiting impatiently for my friends to pass. But you didn't see me. I wasn't there. I saw you go home to your family. But you didn't see me. Because I died that day you cut me off. I was just a biker.. A person with friends and a family. But you didn't see me. EVEN IF YOU DON'T LIKE US, RESPECT OUR RIGHTS TO RIDE WHAT WE CHOOSE AND TAKE A FEW EXTRA SECONDS TO BE SURE WE ARE NOT IN YOUR WAY |

It is my opinion that anyone that is responsible for taking a life as a result of their impairment or intoxication should get the death penalty. We are too weak on drunks. You can rationalize it any way you want to. If you lost your child, your wife, a best friend to something like this..how do think you would feel? Only a blink of the eye..
It's pathetic that we allow people like Allen a second chance. Jail is the easy way out. He'll say he's sorry and cry. He'll be all scared and get religion. In the end, all he'll care about is saving his skin. What makes this worse is that he has behaved like this before. Don't give drunk drivers a second chance. If you get caught and convicted of a DUI...you should lose your license forever. Think that's too harsh? Tell that to the victims family. Think that's too harsh? Then DONT DRIVE DRUNK. Any argument past that is just rationalizing insane behavior or you are just too weak to control yourself. FIN |

AWESOME! Drunk Drivers MUST Go To Jail, just like everyone else that intentionally commits murder. If you drink and drive, it is intentional murder in my eyes. |
||||
Damn I though I was bad LOL but I'll go along with it |

Been riding for over 30yrs and seen alot of people I know died for ignorance of car drivers including my own brother who was a Police officer. This guy even though he didn't do this on purpose still need a harsh prison sentence 3 yrs is not even close to being long enough. And how many more people have to die before the state ban using cell phone while driving. These drivers are as bad as drunk driver. I don't see drunk drivers every day but I do see cell phone users in the car not paying attention every day |
||||
Been riding since I was 14 (on a dirt-bike to start), I'm now 49. Anyhow, I agree. I do not/will not in any case, answer my cell phone when in my vehicle. All my friends know that if I don't answer, I'm in the truck. What's even worse, are the ones sending text messages while driving! I've seen them swirving all over just like they were DUI. It's scary out there, whether on a Motorcycles, Car, Truck, Semi ... We ALL, each and every one of us ... need to do our part not to hurt others. We need to use our brains ... No Phones, Texts or Drugs/Alcohol! |

First of all I do not understand what beefs comment is suppose to mean, and I think it is disrespectful. This posting starts off with a beautiful, meaningful poem and ends with this joker beef?

i just hope the DA gets it right this time. It seems like every case he takes to court gets knocked down to almost nothing. The only way to teach people that their actions are wrong, is to punish them to the point they never forget. It's obvious this guy wasn't punished hard enough the first time he drove drunk. Had he paid the price the first time, this accident probably would have never happened. teach this guy..and future violators that this kind of behavior is NOT tolerated in Erie.

This Allen guy needs to be locked up for life not just 3 years. Lawmakers really do need to look at the death penalty for DUI. I drive truck and only make it home about 2-3 times a month. I see guys like Allen all the time on the road. These guys kill hundreds of people and then only get locked up for 3 years. It's just not enough time.

when he goes to jail, will he be in a PA jail or a MI jail? just wondering if it's gonna have to be my tax dollars that feeds him for 3+ years or is his state going to foot the bill.
the more i get stuck feeding all these criminals, the more i'm thinking we dont use the electric chair near as much as we should. Lets fry them now before the electric goes up. save me some money please! |
||||
i know what you mean. he will get sent to PA state prison so we will be stuck supporting him. the only possible plus is that maybe his family will move to pa to be closer to him and they'll pay taxes here to help cover his room and board. If they haven't disowened him!!!! |

the good old coke plant...they'll kill ya one way or another. if they cant smoke you out, they'll run you over.

I would just like everyone to think first before posting comments in response to the article and understand that the FAMILY is reading these. Be considerate please! This is a horrible time for them and comments like these are uncalled for.

Well said and much appreciated! Kevin was engaged to my sister and I can certainly say that I was offended when I read a couple of these comments... Imagine how his mom and dad must feel! It's understandable that there will never be a real 'win' here but please be a little more considerate of people's feelings in this situation. |

I heard or i think i read that this allen guy is going to plead NOT GUILTY! How the hell do you in any right frame of mind plead NOT GUILTY to a accident that you killed someone while DRUNK and busted for it at that? The sad shame is he will get a slap on the hand and sent on his way to kill someone again, whether it is a biker or a ped or and motorist! THE OUT RIGHT GALL OF THIS IDIOT TO PLEAD NOT GUILTY
|

Allen plead not guilty thurs. or fri. His attorney is going to argue that the accident was caused by him using the phone and not because he was drunk. He apparently drove all the way across town and was almost home before the accident. Had it been because he was drunk, he would not have made it that far before wrecking. So they say. They are going to say that because he got a phone call he took his eyes off the road and crashed. It's not against the law to be on the phone and drive so it was just an accident not related to alcohol. sad thing is that it will probably work.

The sad thing is that a family has lost a VERY important member and nothing is ever going to change that tragic day in their lives.
Martin Allen was drunk while driving has forever changed his life and destiny also. The Commonwealth of PA and the judge will decide what his punishment will be. May Kevin rest in peace. |

it ammazes me how ignorant some people can be at a time like this just to get people fired up and have a few laughs at someones grief being a RIDER i would really like to meet this jag off |

Marty Allen was a drunk who would bring two 33gallon recyclable blue bags to Erie Coke twice weekly full of Bud Light Cans for the second harvest food bank drive. I knew he was a hard booze drinker but would wash the fire wiskey down with budlight. I'm employed with
Erie coke now, but my conscious is eating away at me and have sent forth my accounts to Attorney Ambrose as well as to the DA's office. I am reluctant of losing my job but I will testify at the trial if asked. He drank too much that August and I've given names of the other employees that were at the bar supplying. Bob, Jay and vince, primarily. Can't sleep at night. Come clean guys so we can one day get a honest night of rest. |
