Then don't grow Cotton Grow a dry land crop so you don't have to irrigate when you aren't making money anyway.

Drove by lugart today on the way back from Altus. Someone should cut the balls off of the farmers for what they do to the lake. It was sickening to see the shape it was in. If I did that to a lake that is as nice as Lugart I'd be down right ashamed. I hope the Crows get your crops I hope your cotton Molds Mildews and Shrivel's away. I hope you go broke and end up in the poor house for what you do to the lake. Makes me think that all the farmers that Irrigate out of lugart must be Satan Worshipers to have the nerve to let the lake get in this shape and just set back and reap the rewards from thier raping of this lake. They must enjoy seeing the foundations of the old town of lugart. It was truely a sad sad sight.

taternut,

YOU ARE A COMPLETE MORON!

How many times do we have to explaine this??? Read the entire thread dipshit!

The lake was built to hold warter for the farmeres in order to irrigate the crops.

Additional recreational benefits, etc. are a plus.... NOT THE REASON THE LAKE WAS BUILT.

The level of the lake is going to go up and down throughout the year. The economic benefits to Southwest Okla resulting from farming is a significant plus to everyone... not just the farmers.

HAVE A NICE F*&%ING DAY!

taterbut,

First off... the farmers are not living off of the citizens of Oklahoma. The farmers provide jobs and positive ecomonic benefits to Oklahoma. Second, the farmers pay for their water usage. Additionally, digging wells is not a viable alternative.

Go educate yourself to the realities of the situation....

YOU ARE THE WEAKEST LINK...... GOOD BYE!

hey i just heard about this web site and that someone decided to use my name on this thread........well swoknative, put your real name on here and stop hiding behind your screen name. this is my first post and by reading the previous it appears public opinion is overwhelmingly against your point of view. name calling was pretty popular back in grade school as i recall, if anyone would like to express their feelings to me personally, i`m at your disposal, the subsidies, or government welfare you guys receive is public record, it used to be published in the altus paper every year until you guys cried about it and they stopped printing it, when it comes to getting something for doing nothing you boys are experts in the field, no pun intended.

agent 99, those farm jobs pay real good, i know some people that do that kind of work around here, can you pick up on the sarcasm? alot of them are hispanic that can`t speak english and draw less than minimum wage and no benefits whatsoever. now if you guys put your government subsidy money back in the community that is alot of economic impact, but what exactly is government subsidy, my hard earned tax dollars and everyone elses, so you continue to benefit from my money with no regard for the publics interests, i would be shocked if you did anything other than just that

Like I said Agent99 and the other farmers taking the water out of the lake are leaches on society. They say they put money in but look at all the money they cost the surrounding communities who use the tourist who visit the lake to make thier living. How many Businesses open when the water is up are forced to close when they suck all the water out. It's a Travisity!!

Cotton subsidies are the biggest waste of taxpayer dollars in this day and time (and there is a LOT of waste to select from). Why don't you educate yourself, appropriately self-named Fartknocker, instead of posting your meaningless drivel!

This will be corrected in due time.

Rahm does like to eat sand bass, Michelle too. Surprising that Lugert has ANY fish with the way it is run!

Ahh, cotton farmin' in Jackson County. Water anytime whether needed or not, big dollar cotton subsidy, crop insurance, extra low cost labor, etc. Who needs a stimulus package with a deal like this going on.

Thank you taxpayers. AIG, GM, Chrysler, Citibank and all the biggies in the bailout would be envious if only they knew.

Rahm knows, I know, and we be lookin' for money soon.

You are jumping off the deep end again. Can't you make a serious statement without Slamming our leaders? Obama had nothing to do with the irrigation and the subsidies. Making your point without the supidity makes you look a whole lot better.

I saw the cotton fields of Jackson county on the 24th. I saw the the vast fields of "king cotton".
I saw the results of water, water, water, cheap labor, and excessive subsidies.

I saw the waste that comes from too much of a good thing - fields that had been stripped and so much cotton remaining that many more bales could be harvested. In some fields you had to look closely to discern whether the strippers had actually picked the fruit from the vine or shredded it.

Yes, when you are given and given and take and take so much, the incentive to do a good job disappears and a mind set of entitlement materializes. I have heard this applied to a segment of society that has been on welfare for decades. It is no coincidence that food stamps and subsidies are handled by the same Department.

Sadly, it is also true of the cotton farmer in Jackson County - a welfare state unto itself. The subsidies will come regardless of whether the field is picked clean, whether prices are up or down, whether it is dry or wet, whether the sun comes up or not.

It's the American way now, entitlement pay for nothing. It has to end.

It would tickle me if some vandels just because of what they have done to the lake went around and set these mounds of cotton on fire. Would serve them right but guess that is just wishful thinking.
