Authorities Investigate Shooting Of 6-Year-Old
POSTED: 11:17 am CDT October 26, 2009
UPDATED: 11:26 am CDT October 26, 2009

OZARK, Ark.-- Authorities in Franklin County are awaiting hospital records of a 6-year-old boy who was shot and wounded during the weekend.

Sheriff Reed Haynes said the boy was shot Saturday and taken to a hospital in Paris then to Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock. Haynes said the boy is said to be doing well and the records are expected at his office Monday.

The boy's name hasn't been released.

Hospital personnel in Paris said the woman who brought the boy said she's his grandmother and that he was shot in the knee by a sibling at her home in Branch.

The sheriff said a phone number the woman left was to a disconnected phone and the address she provided is not a real address. Haynes also said he's not sure of the validity of the name the woman provided.

The reason the news story you posted is sooo very different is because it came from Franklin County Sherrif Reed Haynes. Not a single detail in his press release is accurate. The 5 news team got most of the details correct. The time of the accident isn't right but for the most part it's ok.

How sad is that. Shouldn't we be able to trust what those in authority tell us. Kinda makes me wonder about this Reed Haynes.

I agree, Mr. Reed Haynes should seriously consider going over the facts before releasing a statement on something so vital. If that were my family involved and the details were that off the base I would be furious! And just aside from the poor reporting....the story itself is sad. And I hope the little boy is alright and that there will be no more loaded guns hanging on the wall!

Well from what I hear, the boy is doing fine. The reporting of this story does concern me a bit. When did our news programs and papers stop doing their own reporting? Just because one person says something doesn't make it a fact. Shouldn't they be doing some research of their own? Sounds like the news could have done better police work than Hanyes. I applaude KFSM. They looked into the fact before reporting nonsense.

Daily Horoscope for December 23

Leo

The atmosphere is highly combustible today, with people getting in a stew over the smallest little thing. You will also have a tendency to get hot under the collar, especially if someone isn't doing things as quickly as you'd like. Try to stop yourself getting in a rage because once that happens it will be difficult to cool down again. Maybe you need some fresh air?
