I agree that OUR government needs to take a HUGE step back and let parents be parents and neighbors be neighbors!! Let's try helping the children that need childcare instead of taking away the childcare that some children already have!!! Um, ah, I think that the problem here is in fact the neighbors. Who do people complain to about each other? The gov't that they supposedly hate. Don't like your neighbor's paint color? Call the code enforcement folks while you hide behind your door. To paraphrase Pogo, "we have met the government and they is us."

So the DHS thinks that the kids are better off standing by the school bus stop for 40 minutes than in the neighbor's house. Let me see, winter is coming so that means snow and possible frostbite, Jaycee Dugard got abducted at a school bus stop, traffic is often very close to where the kids wait - and this is 'in the best interest of the children'? How? Unless there is some ligimate reason the neighbor shouldn't watch the kids (like abuse, pedifile, etc), DHS needs to butt out. These kids are being looked after, go find some that aren't.

This is a bunch of crap!!! When are we going to realize "it takes a village to raise one child"? What the hell are we coming to?

How do you know if she is for sure without a doubt, doing the care for free? Only the mothers and Lisa know the truth.
Daycare licensing is there to protect everyone involved. Why should people that do child care for a business be regulated while those doing it for free (supposedly) are not?
There is more to the story than Lisa is providing.
She called the bus garage and asked to have the stop moved because she was doing "daycare" for friends. If she didn't call it a daycare herself, it may not have even been reported to begin with.
Don't forget that Lisa is hiding behind what kind of neighbor she is. She turns in her neighbors all the time for compost piles, false chicken abuse, chickens behind garages, fences, planning and zoning complaints to name a few. She is not the saint she and her "mothers" are portraying.
