Letters to the editor: Peaceful words

For the critics who feel that President Obama does not deserve the Noble Peace Prize because he has not done something of "significance" and that actions speak louder than words, I say that before there are actions there are words.

Of course the words that "The police acted stupidly" will soon be forgotten or ignored...

Indeed, words speak loudly. But the words of the great people who spoke them (including all of the examples you listed in your letter) are simply a part of the picture; perhaps a metaphor for those people. We don't honor Dr. King simply because he spoke about improving civil rights for all Americans, but because he DID improve them. I respect President Obama and if his actions as President bring his many words to reality, he will indeed have earned the Nobel Prize. But not until then.

Words mean nothing without action. The Community Organizer has accomplished very little, in fact he has caused more harm than good.

Leslie Perry may be right that Lincoln and Roosevelt wer deserving of the Noble prize. On the other hand Obama has yet to achieve anything other than to creat the worst particianship ever experienced in this country. Obama may yet find himself in the smae position Lincoln was, with the country in a civil war due to his sociailistic direction.
