Mainstreet Broadband ceasing operations

$2,500,000 SPOST money spent on 1,300 customers. That comes out to $1,923 per subscriber. Then they wanted you to give them T-SPLOST to spend. Does that make sense?

That's unbelievable. I always wondered if Mainstreet was legit. I wonder who gave them the contract and who got all of our money?
Well, I know who gave them the money - the county commissioners, right?
It never seemed like a good deal for Decatur county... so who all benefited?

Another example of more govt spending our money on things that will not work. I thik I deserve a refund.

You are screwed just like I am...trying to find something. If anybody has a system for the rural area with unlimited download that you are happy with, would you please post what company it is. One thing after checking is stay away from Hughesnet. Nothing but complaints in the reviews.

I have been searching the internet to find out more about why Main Street Broadband shut down and found this link which gives a little more information than the Post Searchlight does.

so is ther anyway to get a refund becuz this was not in the contract with them i paid 750$ for them to come out and install it i live in bronson,fl they have not shut it down yet but if anyone has got any idea on what to do plez tell me

You had better look at the plan and see what the cap is. A good movie will use up 1.5 gb of your plan. And Verizon will burn your butt if you go over. There has to be better options for a home computer

We have $2,500,000 dollars in tax money invested. How much did he pay for it?

Not sure if it should even matter what he pays for it. My thoughts are we voted to fund the system for the county. It was and I imagine will remain under county ownership. I believe they are talking about him running it, the same as what Mainstreet was supposed to do. If he can run it and keep it working under the terms of our original contract then I say thanks!

I hope we soon find out how to pay for service under him instead of the old billing system. A company that leaves us high and dry while taking our money for the next month is not a good business. Having a local business owner will be a great addition to me and to this community. Lets keep it local!!!

Somebody needs to let us know like now as to what is going on. These other companies require a two year contract and once you put in another system in place, you are stuck with it for two years

Who all still has service. I have had service up until this morning. I have spoken to the one who is going to run it, apparently the county does own all the equipment and this will be a maintenance company to keep the service running. I agree who are we going to pay? And when will we know something. I can sign a 2 yr agreement with excede but want to see what is going to happen here. Anyone else out as of this AM?

I think we need to hold our guns for just about a week or two, Rome wasn't built in a day and this bomb was just set off less than a week ago. if you lost your service hold up a little before you jump somewhere else, unless you got not choice. as for me I waited 7 years for this. a week or two without service wont kill me. it takes time to transfer all this stuff over. it's gonna happen. hold on to your equipment. Mainstreet screwed us but Shane Turner is trying to be a hero for all us who need the service.

O so we can S----- out of more money = I say the county com members and all others that put this crap into action put the funds back its not to the tax payer to lose = do this and they will think twice before they crap away funds is what I say - what do u say
