Tell Us: What do you think of plans to add dog parks in Cherokee and Cobb?
“We think the solution is a dog park because some people don't like dogs.”
Canton will soon get what has become a must-have for many metro Atlanta cities --- a dog park . via Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Though I think dog parks are great, I think it's ridiculous to segregate dogs and their caretakers from other park owners "become some people don't like dogs." Some people don't like KIDS, but we don't keep KIDS out of our parks! In addition, I really think the City of Canton needs to get with it and STOP BANNING DOGS from city parks. I want to be able to walk my dog, on leash and with "clean up bag" in hand, in ANY park without having to go to another city!

I couldn't have said it better, I totally agree with 'Dog Lover'. My experience with taking my dog to parks only add to the experience. Those that don't like dogs do not approach but the vast majority are happy to see and pet my little pooches!

I think dog parks would be nice. Many responsible dog owners are walking the family pets with poop scoop bags and wouldn't think about leaving any behind. Some places I have been to have the bags located in certain areas with a trash can below them. I love my dogs and would love to take them more places.

I think this is a wonderful idea and can't wait for it to happen.
I think the city of canton's closed minded approach to even let dogs on leashes in parks is quite sad. |

It would be so nice to have a dog park in the south cherokee area like Woodstock or Acworth. Everyone who has dogs would love to have a safe place for them to run free and play with other dogs. When walking dogs in the neighborhood it is dangerous because of the cars. For the dogs and the people.

I have been searching on the internet for a dog park and can't find one that is close. I love the idea of having a dog park in Cherokee or Cobb county. I agree with Wanda that people need a safe place to play with their dogs. I am all for it!!!!!

I also would love to have a Dog Park in Cherokee County. Right now we have to travel to Marietta to a great dog park there. The dog park is wonderful but with my 4 children (ages 2-12) I find it not as convenient to travel 30 or so minutes to take our 2 dogs out to the dog park. For those who don't know of the Marietta park:
Sweat Mountain Park (East Cobb). 4 acres. Off Leash Dog Park. Marietta, Georgia. Two fenced areas, one for large dogs and one for small dogs. Nice shaded area, fenced, benches, trash cans and doggie bags, water. Location: 4346 Steinhauer Rd.(approximately one mile north of Lassiter High School). Directions: From I-75 (N) & Canton Rd Conn NE, Marietta: Head northeast from Canton Rd Conn NE. Bear right and head toward Sandy Plains Rd NE. Turn left at Trickum Rd NE. Turn right at Shallowford Rd NE. Turn left at Steinhauer Rd NE. Go 1.2 miles and turn right just past short bridge into park entrance. The facility is located at Sweat Mountain Park, which is in northeast Cobb County on Steinhauer Road, approximately one mile north of Lassiter High School. |

There is a new off leash dog park in Acworth. It is scheduled to open in April 08. It is called Pitner Dog Park.

I think that it's a good idea to have a dog park in canton i dont even get to take my dogs for a walk because i cant find a dog park that is in my location. Canton needs to get it together and allow dogs in their parks.

Great idea to have areas where dogs can socialize with other dogs with out a leash. I love the idea and have been looking for a park that has them.

A dog park would be AWESOME!
I do realize that some pet parents don't clean up after their pets, BUT, the Majority of us DO! My dogs are my kids and they should be allowed in parks! I have to take mine to the dog park in Marietta and it would be so wonderful to have one in Canton. Dogs are people too and its not their fault that some people have to ruin it for them. Our pets give us so much uncondional love, it's our obligation to give back to them!! |

Yes Ted, you can let your dogs just run loose anywhere...like in the streets and on other peoples property...You see Ted, we want a SAFE envirnonment for our pets to be able to run and interact with other dogs without bothering our neighbors or injuring other people as well as themselves.
ps...do you work at petsmart? Maybe you should find another line of work! |
