I heard that the new overpass on 157 and Camp Jackson Road is going to have its name changed to "Martin Luther King Avenue" I'm surprised this hasn't happened sooner.

I think that is crazy! That over pass has been going up since 1961 that I know of, when I was a baby and my Grandparents bought a house in St. Joe why should that be named after a black person? When in 1961 they where going to build it and Cahokia was all White. name it after a white man or woman. Dont the blackes have enough? They took the town over and it went to hell. Haven't they been given enough? White names!White names! Give something back to the WHITE MAN in Cahokia.

You go Up In Ya. I remember waiting for 30 years for that over-pass to come about. I doubt it will happen now either. If it did they should name it Camp Jackson Over-pass. Martin Luther King-lol.

I say name it after like the Jarret Mansion-which was named after one of the founding families of Cahokia. Jarret Overpass! If that isn't good enough, remember that land was actually American Indian land and should be named in their honor. Up in YAs granddaddy was indian (Cherokee) I believe and he was a wonderful man. I say name it after Mr. Joe Up IN Yas grandaddy. I remember a man named Buster who always looked forward to that being built, name it the Buster Over-Pass.

It's going to be the Martin Luther King Memorial Bridge. They might not have a job to go to, but they will be tapping your women while you are at you're job.

Name it after the only person in the history of this town that has done any good at all while they where in office. The person that has helped the people of Cahokia for his/her entire term in office. The person that has not put his/her friends and family into well paying jobs. The person that has done the fair thing and not taken thousands of dollars and given them away to buddies. The person that has not ran this town like it is Cuba, 1 ruler , 1 boss, my way or the highway. The person that has had the support of all the city depts. The person that helps the police dept and fire dept when ever they need it. So that person would be?????

Answer: If you meet that person, let us all know who it is, because we have never had one in this town.

I guess it will remain nameless because there is no one that fits that description.

The blacks have never done nothing for cahokia but make it look dirt and nasty. Why would you name anything after a black person? I guess someone needs the black vote hell give them 5 dollars thats what they always got where they came from (E. St. Louis). It should be named after a WHITE MAN!

maybe they can let the klu klux klan adopt it. i'm sure they wouldn't have a hard time naming it
but i bet some people in cahokia would think twice about misusing it and run some of the nimrods out of the town/ black or white, mainly blk

Why name it at all? But, if you must name it, why not name it after someone that has meant something to this town? Martin Luther King was a very important person in history, as were many other people, but I don't think they meant anything to Cahokia, specifically. I agree with UP IN YA that someone would only name it the MLK to influence black votes. I can think of several good names, if it MUST be named. Only one person has given their life serving this town and it wasn't Martin Luther King.
