This proves what an empty shell the GOP has become when a blowhard like Rush is their chief voice of the opposition. The equivalent of Palin as their president in waiting. It's almost scary.... in a surrealistic Atwoodian sorta way.

I grew up on William F. Buckley Jr. and learned plenty from his TV shows. My family was straight ticket Democrat then. Conservatives like Buckley were level headed teachers. Liberals and conservatives respected him and were more than willing to appear on his shows and attend his parties.

Why the intense animosity today? You'd think we are in a civil war again! Limbaugh lost me years ago when for too long he focused on only one topic: Hillary Clinton. He had some believing she was as dangerous as Josef Stalin. Hillary a liberal? I don't think so!

It's the Democrats who have changed the most. Watch the video "How Modern Liberals Think". It's very good and explains their mindset. You'll see why rational discussions with Buckley are close to impossible these days.

Conservatives have ended the dialogue with Liberals by being so fixated on their agenda: abortion, war and lowering (federal) taxes. Liberals ended rational dialogue by coming off as having a superior intellect.It's above them to talk with Conservatives. Talk with not at.
