They have never stressed over paying thier bills of seeing a doctor. They have never been at the level of common america to understand what they are talking about.
We need a democratic in there that is in touch with true america and not just the rich america.
Them small town red necks are bitter and angry.

A US Presidential race sure is the Super Bowl of politics. So many posts discuss candidates with the the passion of a NY Giant or Pat fan in the midst of a questionable call, so many that it makes one wonder if those who post have a political appointment on the line. Candidates' words get distorted beyond recognition and for what; so you can beat some anonymous blogger over the head with it? Settle down, people. It's an important election for sure, but it's only an election. Try to muster up enough self-respect that you can treat each other with some respect. People will be more impressed by your ideas if you do; especially those of us who as yet don't have a horse in this derby.

Hillary claims she took responsibility for her comments about Bosnia. Really? By saying "I misspoke, I misstated, I was tired from campaigning?" How about "I lied about the whole thing to make it look like I'm really, really brave." She will say anything, anything, anything to get elected. Of course she's going to make herself look like the champion of average Pennsylvanians now. No one is more elitist than she is.

Obama is very much in touch with voters in small town America. The jobs are gone and people have given up on getting help from Washington.
Who wants to hear Hillary the millionaire, who has never had to work hard a day in her life, talk about her 80 trips to different countries and who she has met? If she cares so much, why would she use tax payers money to take these trips just to have a cup of tea? She could have donated funds to small towns instead of donating 5 million to her campaign and her charitable donations went to the Clinton Foundation. Bill Clinton gave us NAFTA, which Hillary supports til this day. She lies and she smears to get attention away from her wickedness and her corrupt campaign.
Yes, Small Town Americans are bitter and very angry. We don't expect Hillary understand. She is really one out of touch multi-millionaire who just wants to win at any cost.

Obama got it absolutely correct. If you are unaware of what transpired in parts of this country when NAFTA went through, you are woefully uninformed. The manufacturing base in this country which provided good, decent paying jobs to millions is gone. The people who worked hard in these jobs to own homes, raise families and put food on the table, most certainly DO feel bitter that their jobs are now gone. Many live in poverty and are unable to afford more education. Many live in places where there simply aren't any opportunities. Obama understands the feelings that accompany this situation extremely well.

You need only look at statistics to see how many millions have sunk into poverty from the middle class since Bush took office. If Obama wants to provide incentives for corporations to keep jobs in this country, good for him. At least he's trying to help these people.

I read what he said. I understood it. I don't disagree with it. The clintons jumped on the remarks, I think they distorted them, and made them appear to be something they were not. I'm a retired white guy. I worked most of my life doing a job that is now being done in Mexico, by poorly paid people who get very few benefits and do not have many safety standards in place. Their employers (who used to be my employers) do not have to conform to clean air or clean water standards. But their employers surely have made money from the clinton's NAFTA. Money they use for "speaking fees" to thank politicians for taking care of them. My job is gone, the clintons are raking in millions from the people who took my job, And I'm smart enough to make the connection.

Obama's remarks carry with them the somewhat disturbing implication that small town folks feel strongly about their religion, guns and/or families only BECAUSE they are bitter about government not doing enough for them. Even though he didn't say it directly, there is an uncomfortable whiff of "if the government only did more for them, they wouldn't feel the need for God, family, or guns."

Perhaps they simply love God, love their families, and believe they have the right to bear arms. Obama seems to assume that these are a consequence of some kind of unfulfilled entitlement mentality.

what is wrong with saying that when we, who have been disappointed with our jobs or with the direction our country is headed and are helpless to do effect change are bitter? and to give us a break in this unending crisis cycle turn to the things that are familiar and give us pleasure? like hunting, church going, interacting with others or being alone or what ever else gives us temporary enjoyment.

I am bitter about these things and I believe Obama's assessment is right on the dough.

No one disputes that small towns in PA and elsewhere have seen hard times.

Sen. Obama's demeaning remarks were made at a private fundraiser and were not intended to be made public. Looks like Sen. Obama was busted just being himself: a smug, arrogant Ivy Leaguer who looks down his nose at the rest of us. It ain't pretty, is it?

OK you proud "Blue Collar Workers" who are so "offended" by Obama''s bitter comment. Sure, Obama is more elitist than $109 million Hillary, or McCain and his $100 million dollar second wife. Sure, use that excuse to slam Obama with all the fear mongering rhetoric BS that you want.
When it is all said and done, when you are constantly ruined by McCain and Clinton''s policies; when you are whining about losing your homes because of trade agreements sending your jobs to India; when gas prices go above $4.00/gal; when you can''t get treated at the local hospital; keep bringing up the fact that McCain or Hillary understand you more than Obama. The shameless way they are using this comment is just like a one night stand; Hillary and McCain will shower you with love today, but when you are in trouble later don''t expect a call.
Both Hillary and McCain have a history of using people and voters for their own ends. And you call Obama an elitist. Right.
So "Blue Collar Worker", I hope you got your flowers and candy before. Because, after you vote for her, you won''t get as much as a cigarette the morning after.
