Well speaking from experience, the program is a good program. I didnt have a drug problem but As a teenager I experimented with Drugs and My parents decided I need to get myself together for a few months. The Womens center is basically run by self proclaimed life coaches who think that because they lived in a house and followed its rule their lives are now miraculously recovered. It has its pros, as for the program has certain values that it tries to re instill in the addict and thus has several ways of doing so. My all time Favority activity was that of confrontation therapy, Where all the people in the house sit in a circle and theres someone in the middle and you proceed to tell that person everything thats wrong with them without them being allowed to answer or respond back. Even if what theyre saying is not true.Everything the resident does wrong is brought to them not only in confrontation but daily in the form of point outs and they are required to respond with "I accept" Ex: Companion youre wrong you didnt push your chair in.
"I accept."
refusal to accept a point out may lead to a confrontation and thus an AID, which gives the resident an additional chore or task to perform for a week. AIDS are to be viewed a help. And as for selling stuff on the street. It's basicaly to get a person who may never have had a job used to the idea of working for the money. Since it is a self sustained organization, money from sales is used to pay the houses bills, the vans gas, and the salaries of those who are emplyed by the organization. the ACCESS cards are not given to the residents and are always used by staff to purchase house essentials. once a person leaves treatment their welfare is canceled and they wont recieve anymore financial help
Its pretty much a fucking joke. That shit dosent cure anything. It only drives you even crazier to be forced to live in a house with so many stupid rules.

It's really sad to see people wasting their time with non-sense comments and not educated about what drugs or alcohol can do to u and your family...I was a drug addict n even though I didn't went to this particular program I learn that the percent of recovery its very low regardless of what type of program u go to. I was in a very expensive drug treatment and the vast majority of clients were doctors, attorneys and people with professional career that this is their 2nd ,3rd or maybe their 4th attempt to get sober. So please if u going to comment about something that u NEVER experience let that comment be something positive and not base of a rumor because for that matter president Bush Jr. was coca-head and got elected twice.

I was in hogar crea and Fernando Felix is the kin pin of all of this scam. He is stealing thousand of dollars from the government and he is making money of the addicts.

Iím kind of curious. While shopping at Giant Foods on Union Blvd, I was behind three Hogar Crea members who where buying Ice, candy and gum and paying with an ACCESS card. Does belonging to Hogar Crea automatically let you get one of these ACCESS Cards, if so sign me up. If I can pay for my food with an ACCESS Card like the three of them did, then I could go out and buy me a pair of those $150.00 Sneakers and Expensive Clothes the three of them were wearing and maybe even some of the gold chains they had on. How the HELL does that make any sense?
Why don't you quit your job, become a drug addict and find out?

Guys, "It is easier to light a candle than curse the darkness." --Be part of the solution, and not the problem."
I often use these individuals to help me move, or move family members.(Of course at my discretion) Also when I need an extra set of hands around work, they are always willing to help and make a little money on the side. For example, after the storm, a big clean up was needed. Well, I hired 3 of the guys at $10.00/hr and they worked very hard. I bought them lunch and they were very appreciative. Every time I need help with labor, I call this agency and they are very helpful. Everyone needs a chance to prove themselves. It is not how many times we fall, but how many times we get up, that matters.

Wow, so the one protester is claiming that being director of Hogar Crea is the first job in history where previous drug use is a REQUIREMENT.
And, its good to see all these drug addicts and drunks have all this free time run these protests. Guess they didnt get jobs yet, huh.

My BF is in this place.... And I have had the feeling for the longest time that there was something, in fact, wrong with the way that things were done there.... I'm curious though, how is it that Hogar Crea can continue to stay open?? By the way that it sounds, all of the addicts that go in there, are pretty much not learning anything about trying to stay clean and sober...... My personal opinion, I feel that they would benefit more from AA/NA meetings at least 3x a week more so that being forced to stay in a place from 18-24 months, if not longer..... I really think that Hogar Crea should be investigated to the fullest!!!!!!!

Angie the program is a joke. No white people are there to make sure everything is run the right way. I known about five "addicts" that went through the program. They all are in worse condition now and say it should be shut down. Hopefully Hogar Crea goes out of business because thats all they are.

Corruption in every phase of the Hogar Crea program is the problem. Staff/clients getting high, misuse of public funding, and many more internal programs should have caused this digrace of a program to be shut down a long time ago. Standing on random corners selling their nasty cheesecake and flan for all these years. Is that like the hispanic approach to recovery? Again, lack of adequate and sufficient leadership. I heard the relapse rate is like 80%. Shut it down.

I have to say that the people that that has replied to this before me are a bunch of haters that don't know what this programs are doing to help people struggling with drugs, you are not drug addicts Thanks to God or have some one that needs this kind of help, I am pretty sure none of you are a doctor, a drug addiction counselor or some one who volunteer to help other people in crisis but... I am pretty sure you are a whole bunch of snobs that think you know it all, you are like a drug addict blaming what other people are doing to help other with this kind of problems ARE YOU HELPING?.... I AM SURE YOU ARE NOT
I have a brother who's struggle with addiction for many yrs. and this particular program took him over and over to help him, they introduce him back to society, teach him earn his way to work hard and to clean for the past 5 yrs. my brother has stay clean, he has maintain a job paying taxes and today he is a married man with a family thanks to a place called Hogar Crea that did not give up on him like many other institution did. So before you get diarrhea of the mouth do a little research before hand, because there is no Institution is U.S. that do this kind of work for free all of them do it in return of money and a lot of money.
