Country Liberal, some on this list have speculated that you are a 15 year old posting to get a rise out of people. However, your post regarding the Mandatory home inspections, is actually well thought out, and way beyond the comprehension of most 15 year olds. It’s also the scariest post I’ve read in along time.
While you may not be a 15 year old, it’s obvious that you did not live during the communist era of the Soviet Union, or the Mao era of China. You could not have seen the newscasts of people being shot in the back trying to escape over the Berlin wall. Since your ISP says Nebraska, the people who made rafts out of barrels and tree trunks risking their lives to make the ninety mile voyage from Cuba to Florida, probably don’t get much play up there. And what were these people risking their lives for? Freedom. Freedom from things like: getting people out of old run-down houses and they can be relocated to areas closer to the center of the city they can learn new ways of living they can be taught proper economics they can be shown why somebody like Bush should never be elected again And even scarier, The people can be assigned an apartment based on their needs all types of people will be assigned to the apartments, this will ensure diversity. Teach all peoples to live and work together towards a common goal. People will be able to have a wider choice of mates We will develop one race one culture My business partner’s wife comes from Poland. Poland was under the Iron Curtain of Russia, and life was chillingly like you describe above. People were assigned jobs by the state. Her father had an office, which came equipped with an old desk, chair, light and some pencils. He had absolutely NOTHING to do, but as long as he showed up, he got paid. If he didn’t show up, a policeman visited his house to find out why. People were paid by the state to snitch. You kept this job until you died, especially if you did not join the communist party. If you joined, climbing the ladder depended on how many people you outed. If you didn’t join, you were immediately suspect, and you and your family were put under surveillance. All in the name of the “common good”. You were assigned where to live. Private property became the state’s property, and you paid rent to the state. Food was available in state run stores, when they were open. People led dreary lives, with little hope for improvement. Individualism was not only discouraged, it was punished. The common good trumped individual good. In the USA, ANYONE who is willing to work hard, and sets their mind to it, can succeed beyond their dreams. In communism, the only way to succeed is through the military or government. Life was an existence, rather than something to be enjoyed, and the military and the police made sure you did towed the line. Is that what you want us all to be like? Does that sound good to you? Why is it that thousands of people risked their lives to escape from communism, yet no one ever tried to escape in? You need to ask yourself why you are so miserable that you would even consider forcing other people into this sort if misery. Are you such a failure in your life, that you think the only way to live is to be the same as everyone else? What happened in your life that made you think that the “common good” is better than the individual good? I’m sad for you, since your only hope comes from someone else, who could care less about you. Why not call Obama when he gets back from his trip, and tell him Country |

I believe Country liberal is actually a conservative trying to portray a liberal to make them look even more stupid than they really are.
There is no way someone could believe what they claim to believe and have the brains to turn on their PC. |

Whoops it got cut off. Call up Obama when he gets back from his trip, and tell him Country Liberal is calling. See if you get through.

I had the opportunity as a young lad (16), to visit Berlin in the 60’s. Berlin was always a focal point, because it was a city that at the time was divided between East and West, but it was completely surrounded by East Germany. There was one road that existed in a de-militarized zone, otherwise, you had to get in by plane.
The West side of the city was bustling and vibrant, just like any city in the world. People, cars, busses, trollies, everywhere. Then my family decided to take a tour bus into the East side (the only way to get in, BTW). The bus went through Checkpoint Charlie, the only hole in the wall to get to the East side. West Berliners with family or business on the east side could travel into East Berlin, but eastern Berliners were not permitted to go into the West side. The first thing you noticed was the stark contrast to the other side of the City. Where the west was a bustling city, the East was deserted. There were few people on the streets. This was circa 1966, but the buildings looked the same way they did at the end of WWII. There were no Food Lions, no Publix’s, and no department stores. There were few cars or trucks and most people traveled by foot, moped or battered bicycles. There was no color there. Everything was a drab gray. The entire place was depressing. Whenever the state mandates people’s behavior, enforcement is of paramount importance. Everywhere you went in East Berlin, there were soldiers on every corner. Even James Bond could not move around east Berlin without being spotted. Then they took us to the Wall; you know, the one that Ronald Reagan spoke about, when he said,“Mr. Gorbachov, TEAR DOWN THIS wall”. The wall stood about 30 feet high. To get to the wall, you first had to get past a chain link fence topped with barbed wire. Armed guards walked the perimeter with dogs. There were guard towers every hundred yards or so. If you got past the chain link fence, you needed to cross open space of about 100 yards. This open space, had various obstacles, like rolls of barbed wire, and the place was mined. Then when you got to the wall, it was thirty feet of sheer rock. You were an easy target for even the worst shot in the army. Yet despite these obstacles, almost every day, someone tried to escape. Your utopian view of society of everyone being taken care of, and everyone being equal has one major flaw: We are not all born equal. And there’s nothing that you or the government can do that will make us all equal. Except force. And force is not freedom. May I suggest that you read or watch Dr. Zhivago? I know it’s old, but it takes place in Russia during the communist revolution, when many of the ideas you espouse were popular. Take a close look at what’s necessary to force people to do what you want them to do. |

I have read his writting too and I think you are right. He/she gets people`s attention. There is a message there if people will think on it, because if you think on that housing inspection issue it has all kinds of possibilities for government intrusion into our lives. I think instead of being scared of him/her one should think about thie, the country elected a president most had never heard of until he decide to run for president. He has no background in business and little in government and thjere are a lot of questions that have not been answered about his background. True or not, they have not been fully answered, yet he was elected by a fair margin of voters. That is what should scare people . FYI on reading your analysis or breakdown of his comments on this , I did some more research and pulled this up. The interesting thing is his/her`s comments reflect a lot of this platform. http://www.greenparty.org/ I have done a lot of research on the Greens and they are a more spruced up version of communism or socialism. A lot of our congressmen/women seem to be influenced by their agenda. This is frequently an American Third Party goal, to get one of the major parties to adopt their platform or elements of it. I want to make this clear I am not advocating the Green`s Agenda but I think it would be wise to learn more about them, since some very powerful congressmen are from an area in the US where they are very strong. This is just a thought and this is just a discussion but that is my input and if people see fallacies in it, please speak up. I think the real reason we have the problems we have today is we have not discussed issues enough. We get things dumped on us before we know it. |

1 Pinhead, Let me tell you something you moronic, liberal, anti American, piece of trash. When you get California straightened out from the quagmire you liberals have put it in, THEN AND ONLY THEN, come and tell the rest of the country how to do things. Kalifornicate is a perfect example of what happens when liberals get their way for a couple of decades. |

1 OH Please! This has to be the most ignorant liberal post yet! Does anyone else smell the stench of socialism in this post? What, pray tell, should be done about people, such as myself, that are able to do their own thinking? You're just plain warped. Dude, seriously, learn to think. |
