I believe you must be refering to the Four Seasons horse barn on M-33. The owner was found dead. Under investigation. Saw it in the Bay City News.

The rumor circulating around the horse community is that the owner, Ed, was murdered. Other than very cursory information, things seem to be being kept very, very quiet. The silence has just been bizarre.

Here it is a year later .........and still the silence on the Death of Ed Dewitt, Four Seasons Stable, is deafening......has there ever been any information released to the public??......Is there a murderer among us?....or just an unfortunate accident/suicide??.......

I'm friends with John, two posts above. We go to a camp in Rose City. There is a local bar there that John was at earlier this month. He asked the bartender if he had known anything about the situation. The bartender said that his cousin was the Rose City Sheriff. The bartender said that anytime he asks his cousin about the situation, the sheriff answers very frustrated, saying, "keep your mouth shut and don't ever talk about that, it's over with, quiet, don't ever speak of it anymore, what's done is done, I don't want to hear the name Ed Dewitt again." Also, for as much research as I have done, I called two funeral homes in the area which have no record of an Ed Dewitt and checked many listings in obituaries in West Branch, Mio, Rose City, Saginaw and Bay City, in which nothing was stated. However, recently John and I discovered that Mr. Dewitt's first name may not have been Ed. Apparently, that was his middle name which he went by. If our sources are right, his real first name is Harold or Harry, I'm not quite sure about the spelling. If anyone has any information, please email me or make another post. Thank you.

I was just checking out this site because we plan to camp at Rifle River in a few weekends. This post caught my eye and decided to try out some Google searching to see if I could find anything about this case.
The phone number w/ the address is indeed disconnected. I found this website listing which notes Ed's wife's name, Jane Dewitt, and their champion stallion. http://www.michiganfind.com/Localities/W/West... The Four Seasons web site link is broken. This website describes Tennessee Goldust, the champion horse owned by Ed and Jane Dewitt. This website seems to have a listing of a person who bought a horse from Jane Dewitt (Goldust's Appeal) who may have contact information: http://triplekbarc.com/default6.aspx... Four Seasons Stables is the home of the beautiful Tennessee Goldust. It is owned and managed by our friends, Ed and Jane DeWitt. The website given is http://www.tennesseegoldust.com/ -- which forwards you to another website which might have some contacts/information. Another Goldust website: http://www.pridesnoblewalkers.com/tennesseego... Hope this helps someone! Maybe contacting the wife, if possible, will work. |

Oops - I left out one of the links:
http://www.westwoodfarms.net/reference/tennes... This is the one that gives a little bio of Goldust. |

I live and own a business in Skidway Lake. I never heard of anything about a murder of a Ed Dewitt. I noticed The guy above from new york said
There was a sheriff of rose city. There is no Sheriff in Rose City. Sounds like a rumor to me. Rumors are not uncommon around here. |

anyone who wants info should get a hold of the rose city police and ask them what happened. And also Ed's wife of course. I have a cabin on the AuSable and would like to know what exactly happened here...

I just think it's interesting that he worked for the Rose City police. Just wondering if there is any connection with Max and the two prosecutors.

this smells really fishy! That poor family they need and deserve answers... I think they should hire a pi and see if there are some dirty hands within the force. You know that they protect their own.

"Edward said a Michigan State Police trooper was related to the person running the operation and had verbally threatened DeWitt with citations.
The trooper, according to Edward, did so while in plainclothes but was using a squad car. DeWitt, who kept an audio recorder in his car as well as a video camera near his front door, captured much of that encounter on tape, they said. These tapes were missing after their father was shot, they said. " http://www.theoaklandpress.com/stories/090407... Sounds really fishy to me. |
