This makes me sick!! Most of us are struggling to make ends meet and you read something like this! I am amazed how selfish and out of touch some of our politicians are. I guess they really do believe money grows on trees. Wonder where an average person goes to get one of those trees planted in our yards?

No wonder the Governor does not want to be involved in the KNox county mess, he is trying to rob the taxpayers blind as well.

$11 to $12 million of taxpayers money!! how about using that money to fund the Jonna Berry bill. That would be putting money in a place to be of benefit to society, not putting it into a banquet hall for those in the "High Society"

Did you people not know the state government can do anything it wants without your permission? I have said it over and over, it is all about money, power, immunity, impunity and (bought) exceptions the the rules/laws/regulations that are supposed to be fair to all people. It has been said, "our lives begin to end when we remain silent about things that matter". Look at the stadium that taxpayers paid for. Look at the lottery. Were not these things supposed to have a huge benefit on your children's education? How much does your child benefit when most of the money is eaten up in administrative fees and TAXES? Calculate how much you pay in every month. You pay taxes on groceries, fuel, utility bills, property and tags and stickers so you can legally drive your vehicle. What benefit(s) do you get for your hard earned tax dollars? I suspect the lawmakers are angry because they got left out of this type of deal. Could they be the next to want such luxury? Is it not time for you to stop being the victims of of bureaucrats who stomp on your rights and ignore you?

It is a shame that the people we vote for and pay to work for tax payers always end up neglecting those same tax payers. I have heard that we the tax payers need to pay 11 to 12 million for a ballroom because other states have them. Well ,As a parent of a 20 year old with cerebral palsy that can not get any help(but I am not alone)because my daughter does not have a mental disability. I would like to tell the goveners office that like us he may need to move where he likes the scenery. There are many services in other states.I think people who need help are more important than people who need to eat a fancy dinner and dance. There many things other states have. Bingo,Less tax, no guns in bars.I think a govenors job is to prioritize things that need to be done.Back in 2000 the govenor knew there was a problem with long term fung for people with developmental disabilities with out mental disabilities because a bill was signed and here we are 8 years later and still no help. I always heard you should clean your plate before you ask for seconds. thanks Pam

I see very few comments were made on this. That is so sad! We are now cutting the budget because we have been cut in funds just like every other state, while our government just keeps on taking for themselves and don't care about waisting it on anything and everything. Like this little project, and I haven't seen what going up in space and sending a thing to pluto that will be there in 2010 that cost billlions is helping us much any more!I am one who likes to take care of our military and while they are the ones giving the most the polititions are the ones taking the most. Who are these people and why do we vote for them? Because we all think we have to? We are paying them for the worst job that I have ever even heard of. They don't pay for benefits, but if one of them die their wife gets his paycheck and insurance for the rest of her life! Wow wouldn't it be nice if we got that? My husband dies I had better hope it's still while he is working and has the benefits we pay dearly for. And the way they treat our elders and what they are going to do to us. Make them retire early so they won't have all the benefits they have paid to for their whole lives. I just know if I had done this lousy of a job I would have been fired a long time ago! Why can't American people make a law that we can fire them, make them pay for insurance, social security, and when they no longer have the job it will be just like us, whatcha gonna do? But why don't we all just lay down, play dead and let a handful of people make all of our decisions for us! So ya really think they care about us? In Your Dreams!

I say we get rid of all of them on the local, state, and national level. Get rid of the 2 party system get all new people and start holding them accountable.
Wont ever happen but it needs to.

People seriously need to do some research on candidates and consider strong independents candidates. Having less of a "political insider" may just be with this state needs.

That sounds like what the entire country needs.

Daily Horoscope for December 31

Taurus

Friends and partners aren't behaving as you would like today. They're eager to go their own way, much to your annoyance. In order to get round this you're going to have to ask yourself some tricky questions, such as whether you're trying to control everyone's behavior or whether they're being inconsiderate in wanting to do their own thing. It's a Full Moon and a lunar eclipse, so maybe you should all release the tension by making it a super New Year's Eve celebration?
