I was living in Kennedy's Trailer Court when my husband was at work in Fairview. I was 22 and 8 months pregnant with my oldest daughter, Kelly. My mother and I were getting ready for my baby shower that was scheduled the next day. I had just got out of the shower when we saw the bark coming off of my neighbors trees and the wind made the walls of my trailer seem to breath in and out. My mom and I prayed, went to get down on the floor, but after that, I remember waking up on the ground with debris all around me. Chris Luthey, my good friend and classmate saw me and asked if I was ok. She said I must've been in shock, because I was all bloody, but was trying to get help! I didn't even know at that point that it was a tornado. My mom and I were taken to Hamot Hospital with many injuries. My baby was fine, but we needed to stay in the hospital for two weeks. It was an experience we'll never forget! We now pay attention to weather reports, especially tornadoes. I'm very thankful to be here and I'll always remember how this sweet, little town showed how they can take care of their own in a crisis. The overwhelming care and love will stay with me forever.
