Doctor heads to court after online sex sting

I hope that Dr. Maurice Wolin is put in jail this dirt bag is one of the main reasons why this type of show now being aired by dateline works.

I looked at the california State Medical Board and it hads been noted that his medical liscense hads been suspended and maybe even revolked - maybe in stead of trying to gey a b/job from a child he should have just paid a pro....

I have met Mr. Wolin offline. I'm a 27 year old female.( the all happened before the show aired). So he sent me photos of a very attractive man told me about how he was a doctor, trying to save the world. I got all caught up in his lies and he had me under his spell. So we meet up at a Starbucks and he's not the man from the photos. I sit there and he tells me he is also married and has 2 girls. The girls are his 7, and 9 year old daughters. If I sat there in shock that I fell for all his lies. He has be talking on the phone for months. Then he tells me he wanted to have sex with me at a local hotel. Now if I was not in shock before I really was at this point. Not only did he want to have sex with me he was all about tying me up beating me gagging and being his personal sex slave. At that point I got up and left, thank God I ever looked back. A few weeks latter the show aired. I wonder how many other victims he has left in his wake?

AOL- dirt bags like this one shows that even with education people can steal be a real sleeze. You know you should contact the DA office in Petaluma where he was arrested and let them know this also contests to his charcter - a real dirt bag.

P.I I hope that they take is Medical Liscense.

That would also have been illegal in the U.S. In fact, they post video tapes and pictures of men who try to solicit prostitutes (actually scantily clad decoy policy officers.) Meanwhile, someone can rob or badly beat up someone and not receive the same coverage. If there was a place these guys could go to get it from a pro we wouldn't have as many of these kinds of problems.

i thought prostitution was legal in nevada.

I agree with Edward, I think that the good Dr. has rights and should get his day in court. Many men and women have died to protect the rights of our citizens and it is an insult to them that Dr. W be deprived of this right. However he was clearly wrong and will suffer the fate of his crimes. Scott I don't like what he did anymore then you and I believe he should pay. However it should be by the book. You sounded off with several points without thinking them through.

lawyers- we need them

the system- it is what it is better to lean to work it.

Does anyone know what the typical judgement is on something like this? Is this guy facing time in prison?...he's toast if he is.

This is America! We put people in jail for far less severe crimes than this. For example, the cancer patients we put in jail for smoking pot (and other non-violent types who are harming absolutely nobody.)

In contrast, most of the online predators usually get away with it. This is the problem with spending our judicial resources on stupid crimes like pot.

Then the more serious crimes that outrage our society like Mo, don't receive the kind of attention they should. In addition, the juries are less likely to convict if they have been busted on some frivilous crime: marijuana, prostitution, or my favorite gambling (LOL, they actually put people in jail for gambling in some states! ROFL!)

I sent an email to the corporate ethics department and the board of directors at Maurice Wolins empolyer. He works for a Pharmacutical company in Canada called QLT. He's a Vice President of somthing or other. I'm not sure if they get Dateline up there in Canada, so figured they should know they have a Vice President of Statutory Rape. I feel bad for his wife, She's some sort of fitness/nutrition author:

He has been banned from practicing medicine in California, but that doesn't mean much. It seems he's involved in research, not seeing patients and therefore doesn't exactly practice medicine.

That would be a nightmare being married to that guy. One minute you're leading a life of luxury, the next everyone's spitting in your face.

Dr Wollin is a complete sicko, but I still feel sorry for his family. They must be going through hell.

Obviously he's not interested in his wife. He wants sex with kids. She probably did give him sex but since he's a PERVERT, he wanted it more--and from a kid.

In spite of the gravity of his intent to meet a minor his lack of judgement in this matter points to a terrible character flaw. He should have exercised self-control and having full awareness of his proclivities for minors he should have sought counselling years ago since he knew he had a compulsion that was overtaking his sound judgement in the matter. Somewhat as Dr. Jekyll knowing he had Mr. Hyde within and doing his utmost to control him so as to save himself from his own baser instincts. Alas, he had feet of clay too. Had the TV/police not been a party to this unfortunate meeting to which we have all been witnesses it is evident he would have perverted or attempted to pervert the mind of a child by what he intended to do. He would have interfered with the normal social interactions of a child of that age within its own social milieux. An immature youth is not fully cognizant of his motivations or desires nor has he weighed the repurcussions of his actions. This is why it was wrong for him to be there in the first place. It is a more grevious error because of his stature in the community as an intellectual-a married physician with children himself who also swears the Hippocratic oath and swears to do no harm.
