There is something terrible wrong when you need armed police at schools.

I have 2 children in the school and I don't feel we need armed guards. These kids were a group of punks trying to get attention because they're not getting any at home. The general parent reaction is an overreaction. I worked at a school where a shooting did occur. There were no outward threats made, and because his friends told teachers he had the guns, no students were harmed other than the shooter. The students need to speak up, guards and metal detectors won't stop any violence if somebody wants to perform it.

I say there is something terrible wrong when our children threaten each other like this.

I don't know what everone is afraid of, they had a hit list out last year too and the school didn't do anything about it. It's a small town and they will get over it in about a month. I know because I went there last year.

it is not right that this happened to a good school like canton high they r goin to be like Williamsport high in a couple of years cause of this!!!!!!!!

haha not really anything like williamsport at all it was all talk they were never gointo do anything to those students it was a bunch of bull.

...yeah, were they being serious or not? I admit, when I was in high school I said some pretty stupid things when I was joking around with my friends, especially whenever there had been an incident of school violence in the news recently.(Or when I was making fun of all the feel-good "security" measures our district put into place.)

None of it was serious, of course, but it would have been difficult for a third party to know that unless they'd been there for the whole conversation.

I dunno why they even want to buy metal detectors. I thought those were proven to be ineffective at Red Lake?

well none of you know the real facts and need to get a life and some of these kids got arrested because of a kid sayin one thing and you all will see because one was foudn not guilty already so yeah hsss

being a white boy brought up in Canton (or nearby areas) talking, dressing and acting gangster does not make you one! However, it does make you a joke. No one is impressed or scared of you because you choose to act like you are from an inner city gang.
I think these kids should be dropped off right in the middle in the ghetto, with REAL gangs and see how tough they are then..
I grew up in a city, where there were real gangs, race riots and being white was a bad thing..these little boys will be chewed up and spit out!

I totally agree with the last two writers. I think the other ones need to start school all over again and learn to spell(and speak). What will be leading the generations in the future, "God only knows" (This is' a sad thing). I have three grandchildren from the Elementary to the Sr High and I KNOW FOR A FACT' that part of their parents are teaching them it is alright to be misleading, unruly and to speak the untruth and be dis-trustful as long as it benefits them, no matter who they're hurting while doing so. What is going to happen when they are to the point where they turn on the parent who should them it was all right. Parents should be teaching better values than that and to have some morals! There definitely is a need for more Adults and Children around who have better standards then that, and to be able to send the wayward ones back' into "reality". This is a small world and we are only here for a short time, if they want to mess up their own life go to the corner and do it "alone", leaving the rest of us be!! As far as the schools being policed I think it should be being done everywhere. People young and old, know matter where you turn in this world are intimidated by these thoughtless morons, AND IT NEEDS TO BE STOPPED!!!!
