Now that isn't exactly true. A short while ago the R party was supporting a tax to bail out the failing Ruidoso Downs Racetrack. The vote seemed to be close. At that point Texans were recruited to vote in the election. At least 30 were identified by the County Clerk, but the DA decided not to prosecute any of the felonious registrants. That is your reality.

Statistically voter fraud is insignificant in general elections. Election fraud is much more common with "caging", tampering with electronic readers, etc. Lyndon Johnson was said to have rallied the occupants of the Johnson City, Texas Cemetery in his run for Congress.

Democrats will never agree to a voter id when voting.

States could make state approved ID on the spot at all voter places and the democrats would still say no..

It is all about the vote, if you do not vote democrat, they do not want you too vote at all.

Too bad we do not have a Supreme Court that would make it mandatory that you carry an approved ID with you when out in public, and have it at home..

If the government can make us buy health insurance, Why not have an ID????

The thing is, Sailor, that Democrats would be OK with voter IDs if Secretaries of States could and would insure that all eligible voters had an ID, and by "all", I mean every person listed in the voter registration rolls as a registered voter, even people we don't like.

As it is, lack of voter ID can be used as voter suppression, which is contrary to the intent of the framers, the courts, and the spirit of free elections.

No it is called a compromise, if states went out of there way to provide free state issued ID cards, what would the democrats next issue be about showing an ID card before voting, we already show ID cards for so much more, Only a liberal would complain...

The Patriot Act has a need, just not the way it has been implemented and controlled...

Now the question is, Are you a Troll or not since you are showing a known Troll haven as an address?

Reports of Fraud Largely Baseless  At Mother Jones, Kevin Drum writes that when you look at "statistics" and "actual facts," you find that "for all practical purposes, there is no voter fraud ... Every two years, like clockwork, Republicans gin up a massive hysteria over voter fraud that study after study shows doesn't exist. The fact of its nonexistence is about as well established as anything can possibly be, so there has to be some other reason for relentlessly bringing it up. And that reason, quite plainly, is to suppress the vote of groups unlikely to vote for Republicans."

The Right's Misinformation Campaign  "There are certainly instances of fraud; of felons voting, say, that should be prosecuted, as it's the law," writes Michael Tomasky at The Guardian. "But they're few and far between." Tomasky goes on to note that "on the other side of this coin, mysterious fliers appear in black communities round about now 'informing' voters that if they have an outstanding traffic ticket, or haven't paid this month's gas bill, they can't vote ... We cannot of course measure the number of people who don't vote because of such intimidation, but the amount of money and time Republicans put into these schemes tells us that they think it's worth the effort."

Were the 30 Republicans? Can you prove it? How close was the vote? What Texans were they, can you name them? Who was the County Clerk who identified them? Why did the DA decide not to prosecute them? You forget that this forum is open to those other then liberals!

There is NOTHING free! Yet these same democrats want to ensure that you have an ID when you buy beer, cigarettes, drive a car, cash a check, enter a court house, posssess a carry to conceal weapon, see an adult film, join the military and the list goes on and on. How's that for FREEDOM! How's that hope and change thing working out for you Ken!

It's a fact. the dems have stood firmly against requiring voters to produce picture ID's.

There is no arguement for such an action nor is there any thing that can be seen from such disagreement except that the dems want people who are not elgible to vote to be able to vote.

Get your shit together dems the people are on to you.

Requiring picture IDs in order to vote is a means of voter suppression. It is difficult in most rural areas for some people to get to a place that produces picture IDs.

To register to vote in New Mexico you need an original or copy of a current and valid photo identification. This is registered in the County Clerks Office. When a voter arrives at the poll to vote, the voter must give name and address which must be the same as the clerk has on file. When there is a dispute, the Clerks Office has the ability to match the voter record with the voter files and actual address. A voter ID doesn't add anything to the accuracy of the vote, to the contrary, voter ID requirements can be a hindrance to the process and preventing some registered voters from voting. I assume you support all legally registered voters actually voting?

How do people who do not have ID function in a society that requires for so many things? Do they just avoid things that require an ID.
If the states gave free ID to anyone who asked for on< There would still be resistance from the democrat, less voters = better democrat turn out.

It is a good idea that privileges that require skills or responsibility, such as driving a vehicle or teaching school children should be licensed. You make my point, Sailor; voters only need to provide evidence of age to register to vote. Voter ID's are unnecessary and the more people that vote, the better our democracy.

Daily Horoscope for May 20

Pisces

Your mind is razor sharp today, making it easy to reach decisions and put your thoughts into words. Make the most of this articulate and brainy phase, especially if that means taking part in a discussion or putting your ideas down on paper. If you need to defend your opinions you'll manage to do so without sounding aggressive or dictatorial.
